  1. That's probably the best onboard view of a drone ship landing I've ever seen!
  2. "HOLD HOLD HOLD." "Please state the reason for the hold." "I would like to request a delay of seventeen minutes and fifty three seconds to synchronize our launch with CRS-17."
  3. One of my favorite sites that debunks all of the accusations of it being a hoax: http://www.clavius.org/
  4. Second stage helium leak and power issues. 24 hour scrub.
  5. I had an idea for a story a while back. I never wrote it, as I am perpetually short on time, but the premise was that an asteroid is on a collision course with Earth and there is no rocket big enough to launch and redirect it in time, so they would have to quickly refurbish a Saturn V and launch it. Keep in mind that I think I came up with this before Falcon Heavy was a thing. Delta IV heavy was a thing, but it would not have been ready in time, most likely. Practical distributed lift isn't a mainstream option yet (although it may be in an end of the world scenario) and definitely wasn't several years ago. It wouldn't have worked, though. The launch pad would need to be modified significantly to support Saturn missions again, and you would have to get the equipment to move this rocket to the launch pad. Speaking of which, I wonder how it got in those buildings...
  6. Especially now that we have what is, en effect, a reusable high capacity sounding rocket.
  7. Does anyone know if this was tail 3 or tail 4?
  8. Yo, again blocked. I'm in Spanish though and can't access my new phone, so keep me posted!
  9. Unless something catastrophic happens, the next chapter of Voyage: The Final Warning should be out today. I would say tomorrow but it's nearly 3:20 AM and I've been writing for hours. I will save proofreading and editing for tomorrow, but I have been sick for the past few days and I have a lot of make up work due Friday, so I can't say for sure whether or not I will get it done.

  10. While Apollo and this have many differences, and aren't that good of comparisons, the comparison of this plan and Apollo is probably the best one we can make.
  11. Ah yes, the lander they managed to complete in negative time.
  12. That is not much notice! Will this be tail 3 or 4?
  13. Not much has been announced about the Dragon explosion yet. Granted, it hasn't been very long, but this is making it look like it isn't a straightforward failure. If that is ture, then at this point I think I'd bet on both Boeing and Blue Origin flying humans to space before SpaceX.
  14. Well, I didn't think that they were this far along! It looks like they will actually fly!
  15. The first orbital starship is having two nose cone sections stacked!
  16. May day, just going by its name, is definitely not the best day for launching stuff to space.
  17. Ah, right, I forgot about that, I haven't done much in the newer versions. Yep, that rule is for pre 1.6. Yes. Try to avoid them, but an accidental encounter that doesn't change velocity too much won't disqualify you.
  18. The third one was built from spare parts and is scheduled to launch on CRS-18 in July, currently.
  19. Nope, it can be either manned or unmanned. I should have clarified that, I'll go add that in.
  20. Continuing in the vein of the twenty ton and two ton speed run challenges, I present the 5,000 Fund Speed Run! The goal? Go as fast as possible with only 5,000 funds! Rules: No cheating with the debug menu, cheat mods, etc. No mod parts may be used No mods that alter physics may be used Visual/informational, etc. mods may be used Speed must be measured before Kerbin's SOI is exited, and must be measured in the "orbit" velocity mode. The craft must cost less than 5,000 funds Kerbals do not count towards cost. If you need to spawn one in, the command pod, as long as it is jettisoned before takeoff, does not contribute to cost. The craft does not need to be manned, it can be either manned or unmanned. That's all I can think of right now. It's a relatively simple challenge. Leaderboard: Enjoy!
  21. It refers to the Nasa Spaceflight Forum, it can stand for Nasa Spaceflight Forum or alternatively Nasa SpaceFlight with the Forum added as another word.
  22. Also, new photography from NSF shows: Orbital starship is divided into a few sections, nose nearly complete Bottom fuel tank dome is in A second concrete jig is being built, maybe for Starship #3 or a Super Heavy prototype A concrete foundation/slab/thing has been (I think) poured. The general consensus over there is that this is an assembly building for the more delicate parts of Starship.
