I've been lurking since becoming obsessed with the game early last fall, and I think maybe I finally have something to contribute, so here it is.
I guess a lot of people have had issues building rockets for launching small space planes at the top, Dynasaur-style, and I seem to have come up with something that works: box fins.
As you probably know box fins are used IRL in situations where the object being "flown" is not aerodynamically enough shaped to fly in anything resembling a straight line. Those famous pictures of the fat-man bomb, or Zsar Bomba for that matter illustrate the concept. So I thought I'd try one out on my spaceplane launcher:

The basic idea is to increase aerodynamic pressure at the bottom of the vehicle without necessarily increasing drag too much.
