  1. Maybe the VAB has some sort of timewarp feature and all spacecraft construction actually DOES take place during the day. Plus, I'm pretty sure we see clouds a lot in the promotional videos, so I think they actually do exist on Kerbin in some capacity, even as a very transient phenomenon. Besides, parallax puts the 'lie' in this argument. Also, you didn't address my ingenious rebuttal
  2. The almost universal observation that Kerbals can't take their suits off can be disregarded as evidence, thanks to another simple observation: In Career mode, you can't EVA anywhere but Kerbin until the Astronaut Center is up to a certain level. This suggests that the suits aren't airtight until then, implying that Kerbals can, indeed, breathe the atmosphere at some capacity.
  3. To this and everyone who shares the OP's sentiment: Fuhgeddaboutit. The devs are more-or-less commited to what we have now and so do I because I don't want it to take a Kraken-plagued eternity to get somewhere. tl;dr go play with RO/RSS and be happy
  4. YESSSSSS! I knew you'd return! Good thing it's continuing, too, since this is by far the most mindblowing AAR of them all. Quite a few folks have tried to copy your style, but none of them come even close to creating that amazing sense of conspiracy and mystery (except for Cydonian Monk). And I DO mean not even close to your level.
  5. This is 1.0.2. Other than OPM, 100% vanilla except for an outdated copy of KER and PlanetShine
  6. Nice opening post, but it feels like you forgot how to actually install this plugin. Seriously. I just took everything in the OPM GameData and tossed it into my directory's GameData. Went ingame. No extra planets. What am I doing wrong??
  7. blah blah blah blah blah CHOCOLATE blah blah blah blah blah CHOCOLATE blah blah blah blah
  8. There might be a bit of a delay getting Prep Phase 2 done. I have schoolwork coming up and I have this amazing spaceplane design in Sandbox that's just really easy and fun to fly. UPDATE: Okay, due to the fact of schoolwork, having to learn 1.0, and Jeb died... I feel like I have to let this go for now. I feel like I've started off completely on the wrong foot; I need to do more writing. What I have feels very barebones compared to most of the AARs out there. I need to take a break from this stuff before coming back. Anyone who was expecting Phase 2, I'm sorry. And besides, I want to spend some time tooling around in Career by myself.
  9. PREP PHASE 1: 04-27-2015 The good folks over at the GEU decided to inaugurate the space program with a launch at the exact midnight moment the sixty-seventh year began. "ETA 01, you're clear for take off!" Gene's voice crackled from the Fleabag's faulty, untuned speakers. Jeb simply smiled and pulled the "THRUST" lever in response. The response from the tiny ship was enormous. Enough to press him into his seat, as if two other Kerbs were standing on his chest -- then a weakening as the single RT-5 below the capsule sputtered out, and a >BANG< as it broke the speed of sound. Not to mention several manned rocket records. He must've broken half-a-dozen of those. Soon, he was simply floating. The peak. (7,441 something meters something. It was over 7,500, that's for sure..) Eventually, the capsule steadily spun over its end. Jeb felt rather strange at this moment. An incredible feeling of wonder, mixed with the inedible feeling of wanting to throw up the snacks he'd inadvisably consumed an hour earlier. A long, leisurely drop. A couple minutes long. But Time, capricious as it is, reared its head. Less than a kilometer out from ground level. The KSC's buildings were coming up at a frightening pace. Jeb tensed. The seconds were counting down... kept his hand just over the parachute lever.. BANG. The 'chute had opened when the craft was nose down. A stomach turning twist /up/. But after a few moments, it reefed open, slowing down to a leisurely ~4 m/s. Everyone quietly watched as the Fleabag landed firmly on the ground with a quiet 'thump'. Jeb was on the ground again.
  10. PROLOGUE/BACKGROUND PREMISE: FIRST FLIGHT.. THIS TIME AROUND The year is KCC[1] 0067. It's been six decades since the apocalyptic Atomic Conflict. Kerbal society has mostly recovered, although it remains fractured, as always, into distinct groups of varying scales. The largest of these, the Great Powers, control vast swathes of Kerbin's landmass, and with it millions of individuals. Each represents its people and its outlook for the future. Their development steadily walks along, as it always has; in fact, we begin this story in a period of extreme economic growth. The future holds boundless promise for those who dare to dream. Technological advance steadily rolls back the cruelties of illness, slavery, and malcontentment. Travel, fickle as it is, has also been mastered by Kerbalkind, thanks to the combustion engine. With it, and the pneumatic wheel, traverse across land is no longer exhausting and timeconsuming. With it and the propeller, sea travel is cheap, commonplace, and vital to the global marketplace; even the skies have been conquered. But there yet remains one final frontier. Space. That perfectly black void beyond the atmosphere. It has been the home of dreamers since time immemorial; but an area that is inaccessible, and some say impossible, for Kerbals to reach. But with great expectations, the Grand Equatorial Union, a band of states loosely tied around the planet's midsection, has been convinced it's possible for a Kerb to go there. Even live there. With the aid of a new technology: the rocket. And even then; the G.E.U's people aren't the only ones looking up. (This is going to be an AAR, in the style of Cydonian Monk's much-beloved NULL CYCLES/AD LUNAM. There might be some czokletmuss influence, too; the embedded soundtracks in Jool of Kerbol System and Journey to the Planets added greatly to the atmosphere. I'm playing with standard Moderate settings; reverting flights has been disabled. Mods, maybe, if they update fast enough. I think I have talent enough to pull this off, I'm a habitual procrastinator and extremely inexperienced, so don't expect the formatting and design to be as good here as it was-is there.) 11. Anyway, any tips for doing an AAR like this myself? I'm planning on doing it Real Soon Now. Like, in a day or two at most.
  12. The.. the only thing I can say. I hope you appreciate it.
  13. NOTE: Thanks to a bit of stumbling I did while doing research, I now know the true meaning of Grep-Sed-Awk-Vim. Remember the streams.
  14. But ... (from a few posts up) "When did everyone lose their critical thinking abilities? This is the most obvious April Fool's joke I've EVER seen. And I really mean that." And I must add: Knowing Squad, do you really think this would take them just over a week to finish?
  15. Please pay attention to the time when they say they will implement this. XD
  16. The devs have stated that 1.0 wont be the end of development.
  17. Whoo! Whatta pair of updates. I don't think there's really that much to worry about. 1.0 is still a couple months away. And you have a decent amount of spare time, right? Just relax, believe in yourself, you'll finish these before the big one-point-oh update is out, I think everyone knows you can. And development won't end there ...
  18. 20 orbital missions just doesn't sound fun and challenging to me, or the maker/users of this mod - in any way. It sounds like a boring repetitive clickfest only mildly broken up by earning funds. That most definitely goes against every fibre of MY Kerbal soul. But to each his own; you can go back to your HarderS and let us take it Easy. (What alternate universe do you live in anyway where that's considered fun and challenging?? )
  19. ... Otherwise fine? OTHERWISE FINE? Heckno.jpg (http://i.imgur.com/onpH9fp.jpg for more details) The Barn as it was was a horrible, uncoordinated mess of a Tier 1 appearance. You can't tell which building is which. Because of the really haphazard way in which Squad went about creating these, we ended up with a... uh... fertilizer container thingy next to a... disused trailerpark place ... which lies behind a ... vaguely barn looking-thing. It was ugly as FRICK and I'm glad we didn't get it. Okay, you could argue the 'Tier 1' we have now is just as horrid, but the level of badness is not really comparable. Everything is reasonably recognizable as what it is, everything has a sense of fitting together, which is really satisfying to me. It has a 'low-tech but not amateurish' feel to it that I really like. Could use with some polishing, though.
  20. Agree with above. ^ Right on the mark. In my own words: Okay. I know you #BringBacktheBarn folks liked the spirit of the images. So did I. The idea of starting out from a disused ... farm ... park place excited my imagination too. I didn't really mind the egregious modeling and texturing at first. But let's face facts - this T1 would have been abysmal. There was no coordination here at all - it's unclear what most buildings are supposed to be, and the variety of facilities depicted (a trailer park next to a .. fertilizer storage facility which is behind a ... I don't know... vaguely barn-looking thing?) really causes each facility to clash with the style of the next, making this KSP look like an amateurish mess. Lastly, that observatory... that Mission Control ... just _ugh_. Perhaps if they significantly reworked the style, making buildings look low-tech but not cobbled together (as some have suggested) and making the purpose of each clearer by the layout of each building according to the later tiers, it might just work. But for now, my personal and insignificant verdict is: #Don'tBringBackTheBarn +1
  21. I've seen that, too. It's a (SPOILERS BELOW!) Kraken-something class ship that can hold 90something Kerbals. (SPOILER END) Anyhow, are you going to do something special for this next update?? After all, it is .90.0. 90 is 65 more than 25.
