    Picoseconds

I remember when I was still quite young, maybe grade 1 or 2. There were a bunch of people on the school bus older than me, and I was talking to them about small measures.

They claimed picoseconds don't exist, because they have a list of prefixes for SI units at home, and "pico-" isn't one of them.

I was right in the end. So yeah.

(Hope I'm not derailing the thread too much)

You're watching a video of a play-through on Youtube, and start clicking on the screen to bring up information or change the camera angle before you remember that you aren't playing.

    So so so true.

    Next stop, Mun.

I've sent my rover over, and now I'll be sending the crew.

    Wish me luck!

    EDIT 1:

    A small teaser for now:

Rover's probe core: "I am worth your salt!"

    EDIT 2: Some sort of kraken broke my rover upon quickload. I will have to send a replacement. ;.;

Thankfully, I still could EVA Valentina, and so I can continue with my Elcano as soon as I land.

EDIT 3: Hooray! The rover has landed. Val will drive the remaining 3/4 of the way on this rover (hopefully).

This looks like a stock rover. Slow and not really drivable. Yet you managed to drive this thing around Minmus :o

Yup, that's a stock Crater Crawler, with a few modifications: I put an extra probe core and a Mechjeb module. It is slow, I usually chug along at 8-12 m/s, although I drive at 20 m/s on the flats. I use 3x timewarp, which doesn't crash my rover or the game, and Mechjeb can tolerate this.

The main reason I chose it is because it can handle this: cOBOGc1.png

  6. Yay I'm done with my first Elcano!

    Crew: 1 (Valentina)

Time: about 2 Kerbal days, about 1 Earth day

    And we're off!

Ahh, this brings back memories. This is where I first landed a crew on Minmus.

    (Spoiler alert: Easter eggs shown)

    "Mum, look at me!"

Another detour brings me to the landing place of the first kerbal-made object to enter Minmus's SoI. Val becomes the first kerbal to get anywhere near this thing for 10 years.

I unfortunately lost two of my spotlights. I flipped and so I wanted to quickload but I accidentally press quicksave. This always happens.

I sort of just did this, in under an hour too! Made a video - it was all great.... until.....

........ I had part G force limits enabled......... I was on final approach, around mach 2 preparing to land........

....... It turns out that my aero-braking maneuver exerts around 70G onto the craft........... and some of the airframe couldn't take it...... but the wings stayed on along with some of the control surfaces, as did 2 out of the three wheels..... so with only 1 aileron and 1 horizontal tail piece, and 2 out of 3 wheels I touched down at 100 m/s (WAY TO FAST)...... I almost had it, but the bounce, then the roll and BOOM!

No survivors. Not even a single bit of debris.....

BUT I  DID MAKE IT ALL THE WAY AROUND KERBIN!

Am I disqualified for it being a fatal flight?

EDIT: I didn't save the video properly, so I am definitely disqualified... Darn it

I use F5/F9 a lot for airplane touchdown, because I'm a n00b and I take 20-30 landing attempts before I can actually land.

On my circumnavigation attempt I was moving WAYYY too fast for touchdown and I had to pull up and reattempt. :P

  8. Having recently completed a circumnavigation of Kerbin by air, I'm deciding to try this out on Minmus.

The plan is to send a rover, then a crew that lands and transfers to the rover.

The rover completes the circumnavigation, then the crew transfers back to the lander. The lander goes back to Kerbin, leaving the rover and flag there.

EDIT 1: I'm now home, let's try this out!

EDIT 2: Hooray, the rover is on Minmus! Let's send the crew over!

EDIT 3: I'm off! Wish me luck!
