I hope no one give me more rep for now, until like mid- or late-August. It's 550 and I'm gonna go back to making a few siren replicas.
For those who are wondering, inrroducing Federal Signal 550. Or Federal Signal 500-DHTT if that makes more sense among siren enthusiasts.
The two-horned version of the 500-SHTT.
Decommissioned Cold War era unit in Los Angeles, California.
4-bar unit in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Both the Thunderbolt 1003 (same manufacturer as the 500) & 500 has been replaced by a model 2001 from the same manufacturer as of 2020.
6-bar unit in... I don't know, I'm no American.
Narrow-horn unit, second pictuee in Dundee Township, Michigan. First picture, I believe is the same unit taken more recently. Now is inactive and moved somewhere as a decoration as of 2019.
So Federal made lots of design changes to the 500 siren (while the 500-DHTT or 550 is a different variant, but doesn't fall under the "design changes" category). All types of horns came in with two options; one with a single-tone chopper & stator[1], and one with a dual-tone chopper & stator[2]
Footnote:
[1] This is what 'true' sirens (i.e Mechanical Sirens, aka "air raid siren", "old siren") make sound with. A motor spins the Chopper really fast, air gets forces through the chopper and escapes once the holes on the Chopper & Stator line up, hence making a sound. The faster it spins the louder the sound & higher the pitch.
[2] Two sets of chopper & stator with different number of holes the more the holes the higher the pitch, but sometimes the quieter the sound due to less air getting through.
[3] There are two types of sirens; Mechanival & Electronic. I've explained the Mechanical one earlier, now the Electronic one. The Electronic one should be the easiest to understand; it's a loudspeaker that plays siren tones.
[4] Any type of siren can be an air raid (or war in general), nuclear (both power plant & fallout), tornado or tsunami siren. It depends on which emergency does that siren warns of.
[5] Ever heard about the Chicago's sirens? It's not broken at all, it's a signal called "Alternate Wail". It's essentially the "Wail" everyone's familiar with typical air raid sirens, but with the "Hi-Lo" of a British police siren mixed into it. The result, a High-and-Low tone that is also a Wail in the same time.
EDIT: Photos aren't mine, credits to the original owners.

Just testing out gap-less images because my original L-50 brochure is waaaaaaay too long to fit in the forums without having the whole brochure shrunk.

Well it's supposed to be on this challenge, but there's one thing missing: Flight Manual.
And also I'm jealous with @espartanlast1's infographics on his. And mine still turned out to be... not as good as Airbus's new plane inforgraphics (under spoiler).

Dang, I was nowhere near my target!
So the conclusion for yesterday is, that was one of the worst day for my 2019. I got 6A's out of 9. Far off my target for straight A's.
BTW if you guys are wondering thenrest of my grade, here's the list:
- A - 6
- B - 2
- C - 1
Unfortunately I left my results at home (and I'm following my dad to his school; he's a headmaster there), so I couldn't get a full list of papers I've taken. But the point is I took 9 papers in total.
But in the end, my family appreciated it.

Aaaand exam has ended with me not having enough time to complete a few questions. Meh.
I was thinking about Nasi Lemak, friend instant noodles, upgrading to Windows 10, installing FL Studio (Demo) and try making my first song, updating KSP to 1.8.1, etc.

BTW today's paper is English and then none after morning tea.
Starting 3:00PM, we'll be allowed to back home and my Dad will fetch me and my items since we have to bring all our belongings back home. And I have a lot of big stuff in my locker.

Oww...
This week's Biology & Physics paper gave me and the boys Mental Breakdown.
I would always left a question behind due to lack of time. And those left ones require quite a long answer.
Anyways, they asked nothing about orbital mechanics and spacecraft maneuvers, unfortunately.
This Week's Mind Torturer :
- Book return (RM2.00 for nooks not wrapped, RM10.00 per lost book).
I have a few lost books and every single of my borrowed textbooks are not wrapped. Total textbook, 11, from different subjects. I hope they just send a mail home, though last year I also got the same problem, but they ask no money. I hope they did the same with this year's.
Next Week's Mind Torturers :
- Chemistry
- Maths & AddMaths
Next Week's Calming Stuff :
- English (how come I'm not gonna tackle English easily if I speak English on the forums?)
- PB (Pulang Bermalam, lit. Overnight Back Home, possibly "Book Out"), or essentially "Going Back Home". One of the most important things on the planet.

Sorry, folks. No mission reports from me until around 24th November.
I got another exam by the end of this year. What a pain.
They say it's a major-ish kind of exam related to IGCSE, since my school (Which some of you guys knew me as an MRSM student) took part in the dual-certificate programme. That is, both SPM (Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia, Malaysian Education Certificate) and IGCSE (well British members knew that exam, right? It's internationally recognised btw), even one of our seniors already quitted earlier before Form 5 with excellent IGCSE results in hand.

I hope I wasn't too late to say this, but...
Wish me luck for my exam, started on 1st October until 9th October!

To Do :
-
Continue building my Bombardier CRJ-1000-VC10-based SSTO.
- Why based on both Bombardier CRJ-1000 and Vickers VC-10? Be ause it'll be a quadjet. I mean, octojet. Eight engines, the other four (CFM56 aka J-56 Lotus) will sit under the wings in a fashion of the B-52 while the four Whiplashes will sit on where the two CF34 (Airplane+ J-34) is.
- Deploy a single launch space station after having the SSTO successfully entered orbit.
- Try to dock at the space station.
-
Continue building my Bombardier CRJ-1000-VC10-based SSTO.

These Kerbals are on Eid break until the end of Syawal, which is around 1st July.
EDIT : They're currently having fun with 10K-VNMSBR and my other whackjobs.
-
Incoming projects :
- Frontinco Fr-30 revamp and re-summarizing.
- 50(?):1-scale Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000T siren replica.
- Full-size Aincrad Floating Castle(The one from Sword Art Online) (I'll do that once I got a powerful PC. Though, 100 Floors, 10km Radius, trying to make it stay afloat (I already have KF Hoverwheels, so a modded build is possible)
- Bringing the castle to Dres (I don't think an cluster of Mastodon and Mainsail engines are powerful enough, but worth trying)
