  1. @Dakota, It's good that the dev team knows that even among all the negativity, there is still a positive vibe for those who were doing the day to day. Everything went to crap, and there was a failure in the leadership. That is not to say that the devs weren't doing the absolute best they could with what they were given and told. I hope they all land on their feet, no lithobraking. I know I will still hold out hope for SOMEONE to take up the mantle for a modernized sequel to KSP, and I will enjoy both KSP with heavy mods, and KSP2 as much as I am able.

the For Science! contracts are so much better than the KSP1 science mode or career contracts.

I 100% agree. The contracts actually push you into useful science and milestones. They don't feel like random grindy tasks. Granted I could only get so far as the bug with orbit lines appeared, but going back to KSP1 had me jonesing for useful and meaningful contracts. Couple that with the visuals and the soundscape, I might shelve the game or pick at it here and there, keep an eye out for mods that address bugs, but I will never abandon it and will always hope the torch is picked up and the vision of what could be is realized.

I dunno why y'all are so quick to judge. I regularly stop believing in gravity when I need to go uphill for example. You guys should try it someday. I dunno why NASA et al keep up with this "chemical reaction" stuff. Its clearly inferior :sticktongue:

Also @Vanamonde I could never do your job. The temptation to give out joke answers would corrupt me

I think that's exactly what makes a good moderator though. Knowing when to give out a real, accurate answer, and at all other times, being a jokester.

@Dakota and @Nerdy_Mike are also under NDA's, which are probably stricter than what the mods here have signed.  And I really do believe that if any of them knew anything AND that if they could talk, they would have already.

Very well said, especially the part about other hobbies.  I've long put off trying to learn how to play lead guitar, and I have the time to do so.  I mean, I had the time when I was playing KSP1, KSP2, Juno, NHL 20, Madden 18...you get the point.  :D

I'm right there with you man. I have a lot of hobbies that I have put on hold when life got in the way. Having a 1 year old isn't helping things either though.

Perhaps we can get some information from you?

Do you understand the concept of an NDA? ALL the current, former, in limbo employees of IG, PD, et al, are under an NDA regarding basically everything we want to know about. Inflammatory, accusatory statements do nothing but rile people up for no reason. When someone is LEGALLY ALLOWED to speak about what is going on, then we will know something. Until then, play KSP2, or KSP1, or go for a walk, or literally anything other than get on the forum to demand what you can't have like a petulant child.

Do you think it's easy for Dakota being community manager? Having trolls constantly demanding answers he can't provide, listening to a never ending flood of complaints about this, that and the other that are all well outside his control.  What would having information do for you anyway? If they're continuing to work on the game quietly, you'll STILL have some sort of update you're waiting for. If they're not working on it, you'll STILL be lamenting about how T2 screwed everyone over by not completing an EARLY ACCESS game that by it's very definition may be abandoned at any time, be buggy, go months or longer between updates.

Has this whole experience been ideal? No, I think we can all agree on that. Was the development of the game as it was riddled with problems? Definitely. Could you have done better? The devs are just there trying to do their thing while trying to remain employed by their corporate overlords.  How would you feel if someone came into your job (More like 1000 people) and stood over you demanding updates every 10 minutes on what you were working on?

Let's all just be patient, go enjoy some other hobbies for a while, and revisit when some of this has blown over and we have confirmation one way or another.  For now, all this bickering is absolutely exhausting.

  6. Though there are still bugs, I will say the music, the sound design, the visuals, they definitely make for some awe inspiring  experiences. I have KSP1 HEAVILY modded and it just doesn't have quite the same feel as KSP2. Sure, I have more parts to play with in the original, but oddly, I find myself wondering what more they had in store after landing at the Mun arch and just scratching the surface on that storyline.

Scott wasn't the only one that was critical about the game. The other predominant steamers were too. But none said the game was a lost cause. In their own ways, all of them basically said this is an EA release, and was in rough shape. None said you should skip it, but they did warn their viewers to expect a less than perfect game.

A less than perfect game, which is exactly what it is. I, as well, wish the dev team nothing but the best success in their continuing work on the game. Maybe I am an optimist, maybe Nate made an impact on me, but I truly believe they WANT the game to be everything they said it would be.  For now, I will tinker with it from time to time after each update is released and see how I feel going forward from there. I will never not like the concept of KSP, and will always give this new iteration the benefit of the doubt with each update. I hope for the best, but keep my expectations low. Low expectations lead to low disappointment.

  8. Well I'm excited. After a major PC refresh I am no longer getting seconds per frame at launch so... lets do this. Bugs are gonna be bugs, early access is going to do early access things. If you believe anything differently you're just deluding yourself. Play the game, report bugs, wait for patch, rinse repeat until release. If that bothers you, shoulda waited till retail release to play.

  9. I'm liking where your head is on this. I was a fan of the deployable science stations from the original. Some of the more instant experiments are nice, but having something you need to deploy and then recover some time later seems more realistic. I think having some sort of observatory science would be cool. Kinda like having something watching Kerbol for a period of months to observe its changes before you get science from the experiment, maybe having something where you build a telescope that actually observes distant stars for science and maybe also discovering a nearby star to inspire interstellar travel? Ooh, ahhh...  Sorry for the ramble. I am both extremely tired and at work.

KSP forums: "KSP2 runs like donkey, it needs to be optimized"

Also KSP forums: "I demand unlimited vertex counts on my part models"

Just went through a MAJOR upgrade on my PC to bring it into the current decade of parts technology. It actually runs pretty well now. Time will tell once I get in to the game more now that it is playable if large part counts affect anything, but looking at the ground no longer puts me into seconds per frame territory, so there's that. Optimization would definitely be a good thing, and more vertices would be nice, but I still think it looks pretty stellar (HA, see what I did there?) as is. I'm just waiting for science to be a part of the game, then I can really get back in the groove.

  11. Are you playing via Steam? If so, did you notice a download for KSP2 before you launched? i think if there was a hotfix dropped, it would be the talk of the town. If your performance has gone up, just run with it! It also makes me happy to see that you're enjoying the game. Doing a big upgrade on my potato so I can hopefully see performance similar to yours. 1-3fps when facing Kerbin is kinda rough.

  12. Just what this forum needs. Some positivity.

Built my first interplanetary rocket and when I entered Dunas atmosphere? My word. A re entry has never felt so... Legendary! This is the music KSP deserves! OK, not all the music is this grand, but it's definitely leaps and bounds beyond KSP1. Do all the planets have unique music? I aim to find out.
