  1. Least dV to most dV: 1. Eeloo intercept at An or Dn (no plane change required) 2. While launching to Kerbin orbit (less boost from Kerbin's rotation/orbit) 3. While in Kerbin orbit (have to alter orbital velocity) 4. While burning for Eeloo (have to alter escape velocity) 5. While orbiting Kerbol (have to alter Kerbolar velocity)
  2. More efficient than changing planes while in Kerbin orbit is to change planes while launching to Kerbin orbit instead of just gravity turning directly east. It is a lot more difficult, though.
  3. 72 Vectors and 9 mammoths. Although, all those engines caused a lot of lag, so I revised it down to 29 mammoths. I think this should fit well in the "+" part of 3+ boosters. Solution: Don't eject them.
  4. They generally like Oreos, but most of the time they only get to eat pavement.
  5. Has anyone noticed that rescue pods have old textures?
  6. Sorta kinda. If you are manned and by "back to Kerbin" you mean Kerbin orbit, then yes. Burn all the fuel in your ship, get out, and use the EVA jetpack to get an eccentric Kerbin orbit. There is only 600 m/s in the pack, so according to my map you will only have only 27 m/s to spare from a 100 km circular orbit around Eve. Yours seems to be more eccentric (160 km x 3000 km) so if you can burn for Kerbin at Pe you should be okay. Oh, and don't forget to grab the science.
  7. I don't know about all this airbreathing, aerodynamic, aerospike, airplane, aero-whatever stuff. This is more my style: The HMS Sauron can go single stage straight to Mun (yes, those are Saturn V tanks): Ah yes, and it has to find ore and refuel itself: I don't have mining gear deployed currently, but there are 8 big ISRU's and solar panels, 16 drills, and bazillions of radiators and fuel cells. The use of 100% vector/mammoth (no nukes, rhinos, airbreathers, or aerospikes) gives me a full TWR of at least 1.5 anywhere except Eve. The highest ore I've ever found with regular settings and a 5-star Bill in the mk3 passenger module allowed me to refuel in a couple Kerbin days. Ready to go to Duna! 8. No mods, just 17 or so of the Making History Saturn V tanks.
  9. What I meant by "HUGE" is hundreds of thousands of units of LFO. I usually need close to 20 large drills for that.
  10. Put a fairing on the big end, and close it inline on the small end.
  11. We really need bigger ISRUs than 2.5m. 3.75m would be great, and 5m would be perfect. Three reasons: 1. Waiting for years to refuel is not fun. I like to find good ore (14% or higher), convert it fast, and get going preferably in a couple days. The 2.5m ISRU isn't cutting it. 2. HUGE ships are awesome. But in order to refuel them in a decent amount of time, it takes many ISRUs. Many ISRUs means lots of parts. Lots of parts means lots of lag. Lag is not good. 3. Real fuel refineries are massive. They aren't little tiny 1-meter thingies. A 5m fuel refinery could weigh 34 tons, require 240 electricity/sec, take 4 ore/sec, produce 8 LFO/sec, and look awesome.
  12. 1. Concrete free water 2. Performance What are you thinking!?!?
  13. 1. Restock 2. Restock 3. Restock 4. Restock P.S. Restock.
  14. Batteries are chemical accumulators which store charge from solar panels during the day so that the power can be used at night. It seems like the same thing to me.
  15. The gold spherical tanks look awesome, but a 6.25m diameter is too small for anything but a micro lander. It would be great to have them in 1.25m and 2.5m (and maybe 3.75m) sizes. They could be used to make more practically sized landers and also be used to make fuel stations and mining bases look way cooler.
  16. Oh man. First mod I've ever installed. Probably the last.
  17. Yeah, have fun with timewarp. "I wanna go to Eeloo, but the transfer window is in 8 months and the trip there takes 3 and a half years and Player_X wants to go to the Mun tomorrow and Player_Y is trying to do a grand tour in parallel and Player_Z is driving a rover halfway across Eve because his rescue lander overshot. Gonna be a loooooooong wait."
  18. This is definite proof that the dirt on Eve is actually gray! It just looks purple because of the atmosphere!!! The *gray* magic boulder has also appeared on the surface of Eve, and boom! it looks purple! Well done, my good sir! One of Eve's mysteries has finally been solved!
  19. Try turning off steering for the rear landing gear (if you haven't already). For all of my planes, the rear wheels tend to overcompensate when steering, leading to a fishtail/crash.
  20. It appears you have a rhino engine staged right above the top of the orange tanks. The joint looks very weak there as the slight slope is causing the top half to lean over. I would suggest adding some struts from the decoupler to the base of the engine to prevent bending back and forth in flight.
  21. I am planning to rescue Jeb, Val, and Bill off of Eve with this lander: https://imgur.com/a/MSKREIv https://kerbalx.com/MunsterIII/Mona-Lisa-III-Lander I am testing it out, and it seems to work great until 1100 meters. Most of the parachutes are deployed by then and everything is going smoothly until the game freezes. The next thing that happens is the entire lander is fairly evenly distributed over an area of about 10 km. I have no clue what is happening. Any ideas? Lander description: Double layer asparagus pancake for ascent. Heat shield on top and bottom for stable descent. SRB on the bottom to deorbit (use cheats to get there). First stage deploys drogues, second deploys main chutes, third releases probe.
  22. I just noticed that since Jeb got his fourth star, he now has an inventory slot when I right click on him. What is it used for? All I can find when I search google is stuff about KIS. P.S. I don't have KIS or breaking ground, so I don't think it is for parts or moon rocks.
  23. Yeah I was kind of concerned that that might be the case.
