Part 2: JEB NOOOOOOOOOO
To gather high space science, I launched Jeb in the underpowered Orb 2.
After raising the apoapsis to try to flyby the Mun, I ran out of fuel, and Jeb got out and pushed. Contrary to the title, Jeb survived aerobraking and landed safely.
I docked two rollers together.
Science probe COMEHEREMUN 1 was launched to the Mun.
Orbit achieved!
After escaping Mun orbit, I checked my Milestones. Pretty Good!
HOWEVER, the second Mun Probe, COMEHEREMUN 3 ran out of fuel attempting to land and smashed into the Mun. OOPS.

Here we go! But first, SELF IMPOSED RESTRICTIONS!
1. You cannot go to the Mun or Minmus with kerbals before Kerbals go interplanetary.
2. First interplanetary mission is a JOOL 5.

Part One: the grind begins
I start with a roller. Simple and easy(ish)

And an easy 2 hammer launch.

Duna One:
The space program is nearly bankrupt and a company offers to fund you to go to Duna and start a colony there. This is your last chance to save the space program…
MISSION OBJECTIVE:
We can only support ten launches. Due to fund constraints, each launch is capped at net 100,000 funds at most. The first stage and boosters will have to be composed of solid fueled rockets.(sstos included) The public will not approve of nuclear thermal rockets(namely the LV-N “Nerv”)as they are fearful of contamination. The cryogenic technology that can be used for hibernation shpuld not be used for medical reasons. Radical engines such as aerospikes(namely the T-1 “Dart”) and switchable rocket/jets(namely the CR-7 R.A.P.I.E.R.) are too untested and should not be used in a dangerous mission like this. Luckily, DunaSat 1 has been launch 8 years before and scanned the surface for ore(allowed to launch one scansat and it will not be counted in the launch count. You are not allowed to dock or transfer fuel or parts from the scansat.)
PHASE 1:(transfer window 1)
Send a crew of four one way to the surface of Duna
PHASE 2:(transfer window 2)
Send more cargo landers and 12 crew to the colony and establish a greenhouse*
PHASE 3:(transfer window 3)
Assemble a return vehicle^ and bring the original crew home.
* Life support mod only
^Extraplanetary launchpads allowed

Chapter 1: A great start
John Kerman banked his single-seater electric plane as it approached the launch site. He felt lucky to have bought one of those before the war started.
He lined up his plane for landing, buzzing the makeshift headquarters/ launch tower, touching down on the parched sand.
After parking his plane, John took a seat in the launch tower.
"And liftoff of the Sounder 1!"

The imaginatively named Mun Land 1 launches to the Mun.

… whoops. Never mind, we got the money. Yay
Mun Land 2 launches with 4 thumpers this time…
To minmus?
Not again!
After transmitting all the juicy science, I use the last of my fuel to put the probe in a suborbital trajectory to get space science. F
The Sun Probe™ goes out of Kerbin’s SOI for sun science.(not interplanetary)

After some worrisome moments, the probe returns back!
Now, after getting more science, I am ready to assemble The Floor here is made out of Floor. First up is the core module.
