Sinking in the ocean?

Just started playing last week on latest PS4 version. No mods. Capsule, storage bay, science jr, heat shield. 2 Drag chutes and one nose chute. Coming down a fairly dangerous descent I mana ged to slow to about 10ms. Splashdown happened nicely, but descent continued. One odd thing.... My heat shield separated, sank faster, and that is the part that zoom would take me to, not the capsule.
