  1. The barn IS coming back. Keep it on topic, guys.
  2. The question was, what does the phrase "free update" mean? That question has been answered, so let's please not take off on a tangent about the speculation subject of DLC. Squad has no plans for DLC.
  3. This sort of orbital mechanics discussion belongs in Gameplay Questions. And so, moved.
  4. As this seems to be feedback on recent game features, moved to Development Discussion.
  5. Those who hate the barn: it is being reworked. Those who love the barn: it is coming back. Everybody: please remember other forum members are not your enemies, and keep these discussions civil.
  6. Let's keep the barn discussion all in one place, please.
  7. (Speaking as a player and not as a moderator: ) The science system has been tweaked in each version since it was introduced, almost all the rocket parts were discarded and replaced back in version .18 (I think it was), they recently replaced almost all the spaceplane parts, many of the worlds are on their second or more iterations of surface art, SAS has had 2 major overhauls and some tweaks in between, KSC itself has had 4 profoundly different incarnations, and that's just the stuff I can remember off the top of my head. How can you know this? 1) It isn't finished. 2) You are not in the head of the game's creators, and can't compare it to their original vision. And a lot of players are using mods because 1) a lot of people like to mod their games, 2) a thousand modders can produce more content than less than a dozen Squad employees, so the modders are indeed filling in unfinished aspects of this game that isn't finished yet. There's a certain contingent that have been repeating these same complaint/accusations for the 2.5 years that I've been on this forum, and they're even less true now than they were the first time they were trotted out The continual insistence that the game isn't progressing has become farcical. Every update these people come on the forum and rant about how awful and inexcusably botched KSP is, but when the next update comes out, they're still here and still playing.

    Christmas?

It seems the answer is yes.
  9. These suggestions for the game's development have been moved to Suggestions and Development Discussions.
  10. Looks like this has morphed into a discussion of gravity and orbital mechanics. Moved to Science Labs. Carry on.
  11. There's a sub-section for questions about modding, and this thread now occupies it.
  12. Oops. Sorry about the name, Crimson Sunrise. I'm afraid you've missed my point. Closings/removals do not happen if the problem is isolated and can be contained. We only take those measures when a persistent or particularly bad situation has arisen, we have conferred with each other, and agreed that the thread can't be salvaged and will just continue to be a problem if left open or in public view. If we think the problem can be contained, we try that approach first.
  13. Shenanigans such as closing/opening/closing/etc., until nobody knows whether the thread is useful or not. Or throwing the last word into an argument and shutting it down. Closing discussions because the OP didn't get the answer s/he wanted, is bored, doesn't like where the discussion is going. You get the idea.
  14. When a thread goes off the rails, there are often posts which would offend some of our members. We are then faced with a choice: a) hack out parts and hope it doesn't go bad again, possibly leaving the discussion incomprehensible because parts of it are missing, or shutdown or remove the whole thing. Sometimes, we do decide the situation is bad enough to warrant closing or removing the thread. It's not something we do lightly, or simply because we don't like the subject. We do this to protect our members from attacks by other members. There are also times when tempers are high and if we left certain posts in public view, others would be tempted to put in their 2 cents, and the problem would continue and we'd have to hand out more infractions. It makes more sense simply to remove the questionable content from public view and put an end to the problem once and for all. Furthermore, we moderators do not act alone. We discuss and confer and get each other's opinions before taking serious action such as closing threads. When it happens, it's not arbitrary fiat, but a consensus among the moderators that the thread can't be saved. And Crimson Sunshine, we do not share personal information about one member with other members. That includes that person's infraction history. Our goal is not to shame the people we do infract and identify them as troublemakers, but to demonstrate to that person that the conduct in question will not be tolerated. Thread closings or removals are drastic tools, but they are tools we will continue to use when we have to.
  15. Fried, that is very old information. It was a proposal which they decided not to pursue. That system will not be in the game.
  16. Yes, these buildings are not discarded, but post-poned. And thread closed by request.
  17. Don't forget that you can change staging in-flight. Use the part, move it to a new stage, activate the stage to perform the contract, and keep going. I've done it, and it works.
