Although only KSC exists on the planet so far in the game's unfinished state, they would have to have metal mines to make rocket parts, roads to transport materials to KSC, farms to feed themselves, etc. One can and must assume a whole world full of industry and infrastructure existed and created KSC. So when you get wheels in the game, this is not the first wheel ever invented on the Kerbal planet. It's the first wheel designed for use on space vehicles.

A year since this thread was active, we have all new plane parts and it would be more suitable to submit an updated version of the challenge than to resurrect this one. Thread closed.

I do not interpret it as Kerbals being haphazard. I see them as having an excess of enthusiasm. "Volunteer to fly to another planet not knowing if the ship is capable of getting me home again? Sign me up!" is in the same spirit as, "Turn a barn into a rocket assembly building? Sure! It's faster than building one from scratch!"

I rarely use anything other than the "ruggedized" TR-2L, as all the others have a tendency to slide around on worlds with gravity lighter than Kerbin's. On worlds Kerbin-sized, though, the M1s are the fastest. The very large and very small ones, of course, are best for very large or very small vehicles.

Hi Ankoopa. That is not bad progress. Welcome to the forum.

There should be a parachute in the first set of parts. If there isn't either a mod is causing your problems, or your game didn't download and install correctly. Try downloading it again? Not sure what you mean about parts not lining up. Are you trying to attach things to the ghosted green parts you've set aside? You can only keep attaching parts as long as there is a continous path of connected parts all the way to the original, root piece, though. Meanwhile, I made some stock ships that should help you get started in career mode. They're in the first post of this thread.

However frustrated we may become with each other at times, calling each other names like "idiot" just creates an atmosphere of antagonism, and isn't helpful to anyone. Also, please keep in mind that many people on our forum are not native English-speakers, so we can cut each other some slack about spelling and things of that sort, okay?
