What is the most dramatic topography you've landed near?

"Two dimensional" Island on Laythe. -
What was your biggest payload you have launched into orbit?
bsalis replied to TheScareCake!'s topic in KSP1 Discussion
656 tons, a few versions ago With all the fancy new ARM kit available now, might build something massive sometime. Though I don't have a need for it. -
Two thirds of all SSL connections might as well be unencrypted
bsalis replied to Streetwind's topic in The Lounge
Yeah, I saw an article on it today. Decided to put off paying a bunch of bills this evening. Partly this, partly coz lazy. It's pretty bad, but you don't get to choose the data that is leaked out. However, in time it seems you can get any and everything. Including the server certificates! -
I have an old save from .18, and they showed up. Only 1 or 2 at first, then more later.

Are your asteroid capture missions manned or unmanned?
bsalis replied to katateochi's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Mine have been Kerbaled. Wouldn't feel right not to bring a few of 'em for the adventure. Never know, they might need to get out and push. -
Seems more like making a moon out of an asteroid to me.

Narrowest significant canyon on another world?
bsalis replied to allmhuran's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Isn't there a hole on the Mun as well? Smaller and easier to get to than Moho. -
The greatest visionaries in the history of mankind
bsalis replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Agreed. Although people know of Newton as a great scientist among others like Einstein and many more. I don't think people appreciate the significance of his work. Before Newton, science itself wasn't really that scientific. It wasn't a such clearly defined discipline either. Its practitioners were often more philosophers, tinkerers, inventors and theologians. -
I really like the looks of the game's planets. [DISCUSS]
bsalis replied to Bearsh's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I think the planetary bodies are good, but not great. Just take a look the visual enhancement mods and planet mods to see how they could be better. -
What is the most cool part in new ARM update
bsalis replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
The Claw. Since it provides a completely new ability. -
Asteroid Capture Difficulty vs. Your Expectations
bsalis replied to elxverde's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Wait, what?! That was your Class E? Seems they must vary a lot. Below is what i'm still hauling in. Over 3000 tons! -
2 gigawatts isn't that much. Some trivia - the Saturn V first stage produced in excess of 150 gigawatts. That is 3 times as much as the electrical generation capacity of my country, Australia. Um, I didn't answer your question. Sorry.

Asteroid Capture Difficulty vs. Your Expectations
bsalis replied to elxverde's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I would say rendezvous was easier than expected. Mainly because I was expecting the Roids in highly elliptical solar orbits. Have captured a Class-A into Kerbin orbit. That was easy. Number two is a class E.... well... that's a different story that is still being played out. -
Is the Orange Tank still your standard "yard stick"?
bsalis replied to PTNLemay's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Same here. Though I think of the grey tank as a Large Regular, with the orange tank a Large Double, and the smaller white tank a Large Half. Same naming for the 1m parts, but Small instead of Large. Meanwhile in engine land, the Mainsail is no longer the King of engines. Bit sad really. The times they are a changin. -
I survived, but lost a few hundred posts. I was quite active before the incident. 'Twas sad times... a few people I liked never returned, or just lurked. At least I didn't lose as much as some (sal_vager!!!)
-
So sad Considering the manic development cycle of 0.23.5 i don't expect to see any new (or re-born) easter eggs.
-
Personally I see it more like Squad helping NASA really. Though both have benefited from the ARM collaboration.
-
I have tried but no joy. Others have succeeded where I have failed.

I never had it rip a vessel apart. You had to be going very fast for that to happen. For the most part it made the craft uncontrollable. Like many hurdles in the development of KSP, "The Kraken" was a floating point issue. If memory serves, vessels are rigid bodies, with velocity and forces calculated for each part. At high velocities, you would lose precision. This resulted in the phantom forces rolling the vessel. It was fixed with "Krakensbane". Which cancelled out the high velocity by making the universe move, while the vessel remained slow relative to the scene origin. Wow - finally! Will putting all pictures in spoilers (unless it's a pictures thread) be back as forum etiquette as well?

Well I am back! This is my 0.23 K-Prize entry. Hmm, I wonder if anyone else has had a qualifying entry in every version since 0.16 inclusive. Anyhows, I have some more VTOL SSTO action here with Excalibur. Lots a pics, so low rez, but click pics for full size. Welp, this is a 9-seater, so Jebediah, Bill and Bob load up with 6 noobs for some Zero Gee training action in spaaace. We are off. Yes we are moving forward a little. Jets at the back have a bit more TWR then needed. So ballistic we go. Ascent. Circularizing. Orbit - Pe is 102Km. We are back. KSC in sight. Ok, so I botched final. Distracted by checking fuel and intakes to see why it was pulling left a bit, but didn't find anything. Heck, screw the runway, lets go find someplace more interesting to land. VAB, I choose you! Gentle now.... BAM! We are done here.
