  1. These things don't always originate from the game content. Hobbits IN SPAAAACE!
  2. Yeah somewhat the same here. Also, not sure what could be worse, that I don't like it or I really do like it! Interesting that you say the leveling system is really good. Considering that the system in Oblivion and Skyrim are garbage. Though Skyrim was improved a lot... Oblivion was so bad (IMO) that I installed a mod. For me it's the $120AUD up front. You can always cancel a subscription if you don't like it. I didn't play BETA so dunno if i will like it.
  3. I noticed this too. Has it changed recently with the Unity upgrade perhaps? Pretty sure in older versions in full screen, you could Atl-Tab to desktop and the game would still be running in the background.
  4. Your TWR will improve and exceed one as the fuel burns up. It's very possible, and to prove it I made a video. Ten long boring minutes (sorry), but you can always skip to the interesting bits.
  5. Over at the Reddit and the Steam forum JUST KIDDING! Those crazy cats over at reddit do some really whack things. Dunno about Steam. Fact is the KSP community is wide and varied. The game forum here tends to be a bit more nerdy, serious and experienced. Still get plenty of nooby players, especially when there is a big release or a Steam sale. Noob players don't stay that way for long.
  6. Not sure I would call it an exploit. However it does seem unusual to have batteries as massless. There does not seem a need for it. I can understand regular and octagonal struts being massless, since they are for structural glue and connection points. I think landing gear being massless is a bit dodge, but I suspect was made so to allow less than graceful landings. Batteries though? No idea why.
  7. Navball is not open by default in Map View.
  8. So I checked up on this and it's out now! Well, on the platform that matters. Has anyone been playing it? Is it any good? Most of all I want to know what the PvE is like, and what it is like going solo in the early stages. Also, what the latency is like... I live on the wrong side of the Pacific . So Ping reports would be nice.
  9. Could say the same about CO2 levels for the Ordovician period. Did not stop an ice age though.
  10. Anything fancy is not going to be cheap. Cheap is simple with modest goals. Something that was posted around here a while ago was this... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aquarius_(rocket) Target launch cost was one million each.
  11. Damn it, you beat me to it. ... but with the magic of photochop?
  12. I was not aware of that. Doesn't seem the right place since they are not exchangeable. Anyhows - what's the green boxes about? What mod?
  13. I think some pictures would help a lot. Link craft file too if you are keen - plenty of peeps around here like to d/l them and tinker. Although the aerodynamics are primitive, when you get an understanding of it, you can work with it and build very nice flying planes. Hard to say without seeing the craft. Some speculation... * Flying too fast... stay under 100m/s in the the lower atmo * Too much longitudinal stability perhaps. Try a smaller tail, move it closer to CoM, more rudder control surfaces. You need more control surfaces than you probably think. * Engines in front of the CoM (the vectoring does not reverse, so will work against you control inputs!)
  14. My 2c... It's possible to get a Lander Can to the surface and back to orbit in a single stage
  15. It is really only Career mode left. I don't think that will be worth the wait. By playing now, you get to be part of the "game development adventure". Something that you don't hear much of, and sadly too many don't understand or appreciate. Some things you are missing out on... * Enjoying all the new, changed and fixed stuff in every patch release - sometimes it's like a whole new game * Gossip, speculation, hope, argument and all sorts of discussion about the game as it is and what it will become * Exclusive access to game breaking bugs * Joining in on community mob riots over disappointments
  16. 'Twas a mighty brave attempt though. Perhaps a smaller gap and some more bracing on the vessel next time.
  17. The escape tower only adds weight, and you only need it when things go wrong anyhow. That won't happen right? If it does though, any Kerbal made of the Right Stuff would rather bail and aim to land helmet first to bounce to a soft touchdown.
  18. Why just do science when you can settle in? Rules are simple. It's an Asteroid. It's a Space Station. You have Pics... post them here! Here is mine. I have the command module in place. There are some other docking ports clawed in around it. Will be sending some fuel tanks next.
  19. Regardless, the drag values are a factor. Actual drag is a function of that factor and... mass. Which isn't very realistic, but it is just a game. Now - what happens if you put a single part that is massless on a fast re-entry.
  20. Looks like someone already posted my two suggestions. Anyhows - if anyone is interested, theres a name for man-made solutions to these things: Geoengineering. Can Google for more material.
  21. With the jets attached under the wings. You just need to keep lateral velocity under control. This may not be possible, depending upon the design.
  22. Yes - very possible. Have done this twice (some quickload was involved, however, with practice you should be able to do this reliably, every time, just like the Mun). This was my craft... This is how I did the landing...
  23. See here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/70302-Advice-on-floating-bases Personally my Laythe water base aspirations are far more modest...
  24. I think this is very doable. Especially if you leave Kerbin at the right time. You can get to Moho and back without making a plane change in transit, by leaving at the ascending or descending node. The new SLS parts and stronger joins make building a truly large rocket a piece of cake. Agree - I might do the same. The cool thing about doing this for Moho is that the Apollo Moon mission profile will actually help. Where doing it for the Mun doesn't help, if at all, with all the extra parts (hence mass) for all the stages.
  25. For a big Class-E and mebe even smaller ones you can expect to use multiple vessels. One massive vessel will be hard to maneuver around them, since I have found you have to declaw then reclaw in a place to push in the direction you want. So far on my ~3300 E-class I have used 3 vessels, with one (the crew vehicle) docking back in LKO to re-fuel and sent back to the monster. Note that planning for efficient burns help. I managed to get this monster into a retro-grad to pro-grade orbit by aerocapture with Ap at the SoI boundary. It was only doing 36m/s there. Had just enough dV to reverse direction!
