Oh boy
If you put two fairing bases, one upside down on top of something and another one the right way up underneath something, when you put the fairing sides on both of them the fairings grow rapidly until the game crashes. If you hit launch before it crashes then you can get some massive fairings
-
My fairings have three parts: base "cone", middle cylinder and nose "cone". The "cones" can be real cones or curved (you can adjust shape in side part .cfg).
However, if your payload radius is smaller than the base, the base "cone" is not used, so the cylinder goes from the base to the nose.
Currently, the base "cone" is straight, and the nose "cone" is curved, but it can be adjusted in .cfg and you can make your shapes and textures for side fairings, I just have no tutorial/documentation for this yet.
Oh, I see. It'd be nice if the base also acted as a decoupler though, is there a way to do that?

Just the sort of mod I've been waiting for, excellent work. I agree that interstage fairings would be nice though, as the interstage adapters for KW are often too short. Different styles of fairings would also be cool, like instead of just one curve you could have it so that the sides are straight and then at the top it curves into the aerodynamic shape, like how the ones from KW Rocketry look like. But yeah, it's definitely great to see that procedural fairings can be done properly. This and procedural wings enhance the building experience greatly.

The game is as "noob friendly" as it gets for a game about spaceflight really. I came to KSP with absoloutely no knowledge on orbital mechanics and my knowledge on rockets was little more than they're big and loud. I picked up on most of the basics within a week or two, future updates like 0.18 which added maneuever nodes and the targeting system made it even easier. Not to mention that there are plenty of mods to help someone out, from information mods to full out autopilots.
-
I think it looks better without eyebrows personally.
-
Clouds...why are they there? If thr scene updates were right...then KSP has clouds? Confusion happens...
If I remember the stream right, then Max said they're there as a test, they won't show up in flight (yet)
-
Think you could do one with 3 of the grey tanks? I use them for my interplanetary heavy launchers and it'd be nice to bring down the part count and increase stability a bit.
-
I don't get it, what are you crying about? There's a blog feature in the forums if you want to blog about how everyone is being mean to you.
-
I'd just like to say that I don't like the idea of building your own roads. I agree with Nova that you guys should write a plugin using PQSCity so that the cities are permanently placed and spawned when the game loads.
I agree with this

It makes sense. I don't like you
But he made valid criticism - He said that the eyes go through the hair so you just told him to shut up because it's magic and that you don't listen to him because you don't like him.
-
I'd like it if the skybox was reverted to default - Or at least it made optional. Stars are perfectly visible in space, it's just cameras that don't pick them up sometimes iirc. Even if that's not the case, I still think it looks better with the skybox.

Like he says himself he should not swear, he's trying to control it but he's having a tough time. This is not an excuse to swear in the chat though.
I'll be blunt; If he lacks self control why is he representing Squad? He's had months to learn to stop swearing while he streams but he just cannot seem to do it. At the very least if he cannot control himself then he should not expect everyone else to control themselves and he shouldn't hand out bans so easily for swearing.
-
More people definitely would. But it would be hypocritical of us to ask members to post their streams in a certain place, confine them there and then the KSP-TV discussion thread gets posted elsewhere. It's very important that the rules are seen to go both ways.
I understand that, but if that's the case then all of the rules should be seen to go both ways. For an on topic example, there was swearing from skunky quite a bit in last night's stream and all of the streams before that, but as soon as anyone else utters a word like that they get timed out and their message deleted.
Whatisthisidonteven & itisdearflunch I explained my statement in my previous post. Now, I suggest (and that's not an optional request) that we get back on topicYour explanation wasn't that good. Noone here is part of a specific "group", everyone here as far as the topic is concerned is just a forum user. That's it, nothing more, nothing less. The fact that some people may frequent other places does not mean anything at all and shouldn't have been brought up in the first place really.
-
A few people posting (and lets face it, those people have similar backgrounds) does not give a fair image of what the majority of the community agrees on.
More people might post and add to the discussion if the thread was in a more active board such as General Discussion, it's quite hidden from everyone here and it'd be nice if it could be moved. I don't really see how it fits in this board anyway - This isn't fanworks or an AAR.
Any "similar backgrounds" are totally irrelevant to the topic at hand, it's just a bunch of people that have similar opinions - And it's quite a lot of them. I'd say this is far from just a small issue, I assume you were present during the stream last night? So many people were upset at Skunky's stream. It's the number one issue surrounding ksptv right now as it is the only area receiving any significant criticism and it'd be nice if someone from Squad could acknowledge this and at least look into it.
-
We were under the impression that streams done by members of Squad would be core-only, why was this changed?
This, we were told that Squad employees would have to be stock only. Perhaps exceptions for when showcasing a mod, but what Skunky did was awful - He put mechjeb on his craft, told everyone to "suck it" and effectively challenged them to come at him, and then he got the mods to ban anyone who mentioned the word mechjeb. He kept starting stuff about mechjeb during the stream too, often interrupting Majiir to do so (Another problem - He hardly ever let Majiir get a word in because he would constantly talk over him). The ksptv launch was almost a complete disaster - Luckily the two guys that streamed after Skunky saved it. Schmoog and Yargnit had some really good quality streams. I didn't stick around for much of PD's stream, but he looked like it was decent too. That's the sort of content I'd love to tune in to see on ksptv
In my opinion, Skunky has shown time and time again that he is incapable of streaming to any large audience, every time he does there's always a storm. I would much prefer it if it was only community members who streamed on ksptv unless it's a dev stream showing off a new update (Something I'd also like to see return - The 0.18 dev streams were really good, but we haven't seen them since). I think Skunky has some good intentions but he just doesn't know how to express himself properly, he acted in a really unprofessional way yesterday and the viewers count reflected that.

"poly-optimise" is not in nova's vocabulary.
-
His art wasn't even that good, it was generic anime stuff recoloured green. 5 points for talent, 0 for creativity/originality.
-
I believe they think something along the lines of "Yeah, a cool game, except for all those kiddies treating us like meat backups"
Don't forget equating downloading mechjeb and hitting "execute" to spending ages perfecting the software for your rocket and carefully programming the flight path so your multi-million dollar real life rocket doesn't mess up.
-
Just a thought, but could you add a display line/column in both the build and flight engineers for maximum possible acceleration? The TWR ratio is handy for figuring some things out, but I would enjoy the option to see my maximum possible acceleration for optimum landing throttling. It would also be nice if you could put in current throttle acceleration in the flight engineer for the same reason.
This would be really nice for when I want to do a super fuel efficient landing

Nice use of sketchfab
It's looking good so far, but I think the head curves inwards a bit too much on the sides.
-
Please no
All "female kerbals" would bring is even more disgusting fan-art/fan-fiction. It's best if they stay genderless.
-
If it's that long, you could try building the rocket around the arm instead of underneath it. Another thing you could try is rotating the arm on its side and building the rocket underneath it as opposed to launching the arm in a vertical position.

Cheating in a single-player game. Hilarious concept.
Am I not cheating if I open up GTA and turn on infinite health/ammo/etc? I mean, it's not like I'm playing any missions or anything, it's just a sandbox game.
Cheating is not a concept that solely exists in multiplayer games, you know.

I use MechJeb2 for a lot of guidance and piloting. It's not a cheat, it's computerised guidance, most modern rockets have it.
I use Hyper Edit to drop test craft into orbits and transfer windows to run test simulations on landing behaviour, transfer times etc. Again this is something modern space programs do all the time.
I don't 'cheat' as in just build all my stuff and put it on planets and the like. Once I hit a good design and the sims prove it will work I go fly it, however that might be (usually several launches then assemble in orbit and then fly it).
If you're looking for a more realistic experience, you can try using ProgCom. Mechjeb is nothing like real life. Not only is it incorrect to say they just press "go" and watch their rocket fly - It's insulting to the people who put years of work into those launches. Also, astronauts are trained to fly their spacecraft manually, as has been done several times. The Moon landing was done manually, for one.
Finally, they design not only the flight path that the rocket will take, but the guidance systems themselves. You have just downloaded a mod and slapped it onto your rocket. Not to mention real life is a totally different thing as they are not dealing with some pixels on a screen, they're dealing with millions of dollars and in some cases, real human lives.
Feel free to use mechjeb all you like, noone is going to (or wants to) stop you, but don't try and say it's more realistic.
[1.2] Procedural Fairings 3.20 (November 8)
in KSP1 Mod Releases
Posted
Fairings perform a lot better in 1.2, loving the mod even more now. Any word on how interstage fairings are coming along?
