  1. VTOL, STOL, SSTOL, NOTOL, ahuahuahuahuahua

It fly vertically, and can make some minor adjustments on horizontal, if you be careful. To land on Pad, for exemple. (video)

At the moment i'm finishing the crash test for the new one to join this family. STAR Family.

The new one will be 3 Kerbin, and is almost ready.

Man, i'm loving doing this series. It's amazingly efficient and powerful.

    :)

You can see here the first generation of STAR's.

The ICE is second generation, and TURBO is 3rd Gen.

  2. Yes, the only engine with a feasable isp at sea level, the Aerospike, has a delta-v of 8.4km/s if attached to an infinity of fuel tanks. As metaphor said, only the ion plane idea is possible, yet unfeasable. You only have 12 hours of sunlight, which goes down to about ten with your standard ion plane flight velocity.

Is not only the dV that matter, you need to see TWR versus weight too...

  3. For the few ones that tried my STAR SSTO's, i present now the Turbo series.

This is Mechjeb version for now, but if you want a stock version, just ask.

The Turbo series have the double intakes from model before. 6 for each turbo jet. So it almost put the Craft on orbit, using the nuke only for the minimal final circularization.

Have the same 3 versions, Normal (with 2250m/s dV when on 100km orbit), the Junior (around 1250 m/s on orbit), and the Baby (near 650 m/s after orbit)

    More effective, more powerful.

The Normal can make far travels in space. I already put one on Laythe.

The STAR Turbo Mj reach Laythe with orbit refuel on Kerbin and then on Laythe again.

Could land easily near my Laythe base, then come back on orbit, and still have enough fuel to do it again, without the need for refuel.

Perfect for transport between ground base and orbit bases.

Is my most loved one at the moment.

  4. Here is the Challenge, i don't think it is possible, until some one do it.

Is it Possible to have an SSTO landed and come back to a 100km orbit from EVE?

    On stock+mechjeb only.

    No KSPX, no other mod.

To get there you can use infinite fuel+rcs, but from the 100km orbit, to land and then lift of to again a 100km orbit, no refuel, no infinite fuel, and no stages. Just the SSTO Rocket. I think it will need 9000 to 13000 m/s of dV.

    Can it be done?

Better if have a kerbin, and better yet if he is in a capsule.

  5. This is not a "wonderful thing/feature". This is what HoochCow is talking about (I think ?...). This is a glitch.

    o8Rmdym.jpg

Look MechJeb 2's new semi-transparent windows are a bit controversial. I understand that but this is the glitch I think HoochCow is describing.

This is the glitch I've been chasing for a few days now.

    wow! :P

Now i see. You are talking about a 100% transparency.

    Urgh!

    lol

    This is a clitch i don't have!

  6. I have the rocket that can land, take off and get a 100km orbit from any celestial body on the game, Except Kerbol, Eve and Jool.

Here is the craft and three pics of it. I already test it on Tylo from a 100km to full stop landing (i put ladders so the kerbin can EVA on ground too) to a lift off and 100km orbit again, the fuel left on end is only 60 m/s dv (on Mechjeb, maybe can be better on manual, on a optimum situation).

For Kerbin, i did the take off, orbit at a 100 km and than land 500m from the pad, is good enough ?

I couldn't make it prettier than it is, sorry. Any part more would make it ineffective.

I could too use the Scot Manley metod, of using a low weight control module and put the kerbin on a ladder, but i don't thing this is nice, for a space traveler.

Son i put a video from the harder ones, like Tylo, Duna, Laythe, Kerbin.

  7. Just got it last night and tried it today: This was my experience.

Glitch 1. Mechjeb has no background in its menus its just free floating text.

Glitch 2. I found out by enabling fallback shaders it fixes glitch 1. BUT causes cockpit windows to become solid white.

Suggested solution: Get rid of transparent backgrounds for mechjeb menu so fallback shaders aren't required.

Glitch 3. Rendevous module no longer aligns orbits automatically even with autopilot enabled It just sets a marker and does nothing

Glitch 1, if you consider functionality, isn't a glitch, but a wonderful thing/feature. Now, i can click the menus behind one window text, without the need to move those from position. And now you can see the game more, not like before, that all Mechjeb windows obscure the game sadly.

Glitch 3 do not correspond to mine, it not exist. Here it aligns.

  8. Maybe you can have better results with this mix in the no atmospheric bodies Magnemoe, but will fall out on the atmospheric ones, like the Scot Manley Rocket, that works only on no atmospheric ones.

But so, i have the rocket that can land, take off and get a 100km orbit from any celestial body on the game, Except Kerbol, Eve and Jool.

Here is the craft and three pics of it. I already test it on Tylo from a 100km to full stop landing (i put ladders so the kerbin can EVA on ground too) to a lift off and 100km orbit again, the fuel left for that is only 60 m/s dv (on Mechjeb, maybe can be better on manual, on a optimum situation).

For Kerbin, i did the take off, orbit at a 100 km and than landing 500m from the pad, is good enough ?

I could too use the Scot Manley metod, of using a low weight control module and put the kerbin on a ladder, but i don't thing this is nice, for a space traveler. This would give me near or more then 6000 m/s of Dv.

Son i put a video from the harder ones, like Tylo, Duna, Laythe, Kerbin.

  9. Hey guys, you are aware that for Tylo you will need around 6000 m/s of dV in the ship? 3000 m/s for land, plus 3000 m/s to 100 km orbit.

So, nether these posts have that yet...

I just test, and retest, and check again. Mechjeb, and manually. in sort of high to be more precise...

Need a little less then 6000 m/s but i round that for maneuvers.

I don't like to take nothing from anyone, but lets do the Challenge Right!

  10. Where are the RCS fuel and rcs thrusters for ur space plane?

Look careful on the pic of nether download the model, and you will see it.

Both are there. Near center of mass...

4 quadruple RCS trusters, and 2x80 tanks, in front of the front wing.

Question: You see the movie? Look to me you don't even see it, or you don't know too much the game, because is obvious the RCS

  11. I've been playing around with jets cause of this thing. And because I'm obsessed with rocket looking rockets, single stage is a layout nightmare.

What is the advantage to multiple intakes per jet?

I get higher grounds after the flame out occur, this way, you can near the edge of orbit, leaving the nuke just for the final run.

I'm now thinking on a new challenge, the one that need a "plane" SSTO that can land and take of and get orbit from any celestial body (except jool, Kerbol and Eve).

But because of the necessities, i think this plane will be more like a SSTO Rocket only.

    This one: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/showthread.php/26082-Stock-VTOL-SSTO-with-capabilities-to-land-on-any-planet-an-return-to-orbit?p=319317#post319317
