attempting to lift my 78 ton manned Jool expedition into orbit on one rocket, things didn't go well at all. -
parts are all nertea's Nearfuture packs. First image is the lander entering the atmosphere of Laythe, idk why I Didn't extend the airbrakes. Next few images are of the mothership on a hyperbolic trajectory towards jool, ready to aerocapture. I put it into a really high orbit around Jool, with 0.91 eccentricity using Hyperedit to simulate an entry to the system. Any design suggestions? I allready realize I need a proper reactor,not solar panels for Jool distance and a wider heatshield to cover the entire craft. Also RCS to make turning easier. i think he would have to wait for spacex to show a definitive seconds stage reusability, and i think elon has said that the falcon family will not have a reusable second stage. -

This appears to behave normally in 1.05 for my purposes. Just need to remember to stop doing 15g maneuvers at max atmo timewarp or I get a RUD. -
I like planes more post .90, rockets just seem boring by comparison. For reference I've been playing since 18.2. Each new version adds new stuff that is neat, but adds more to relearn. I end up using the same parts the same ways each version, so I get into a rut easily. I just started using the part tools that were released in 1.0 I think (place, offset, rotate) just yesterday. I'm an old kurmugen stuck in my ways.

This idea sounds good, and reasonable if the level one launch pad is reused (with minor changes). -
With the recent restart of RD-180 deliveries, I don't think Vulcan will ever be built. I don't think ULA was organized to effectively work in a competitive environment.

If we have an existing engine, do we replace the current FX module or add the example real plume config somewhere in the existing one? cause i replaced the engine Fx that were stock with the real plume plume and the engine didn't load. Edit: i just added the base config to the engine, without replacing the stock one and the engine loaded! but the real plume effect didn't load. Made a separate MM .cfg, hopefully this should work. didn't. text of MM.cfg -

starting work on RealPlume Config for Merlin series engines (M-1C,M-1D,M-1D+). got the engine back in game, RP is being annoying. Real Plume is not compatible with 1.05, so never mind, I'm back to actually playing the game. Fixed a typo in the .cfg (used a ! not a 1 for the name). still broken, sorry i cannot be of more use. -

Now to Asparagus even more on the sides! It's the only way! Unfortunately I think I'll have to wait on the FSH, the vehicle experienced a Rapid Unplanned Disassembly about 3 minutes into flight, the first stsge succumbed to aerodynamic stresses. Interestingly enough, the upper stage and payload survived. -
after actually reading the readme.txt, I figured it out, thanks! now to make a strongback for a 5 core FH?
