Space Age Throwback: Kerbal War 1
Kerbies_are_my_Minions replied to willwolvescry's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Lol, true, Will. and I understand. come to think of it though, I did use a mod. not for the craft really, but I used hull cam to give a first person view from the seat. since kerbies in seats can't iva. So wherever you want to leave me is fine by me. I may re-run tho with my much more armed plane. redesigned my air to air fire power and have many much more rounds of amunition. -

Scores as of 7/18/13 Top Mod Aircraft: Kerbies_are_my_Minions: 295 points Darren9: 290 points Not to nit pick, but why am I listed under mod aircraft? My plane is 100% stock. -

Plane X is all stock, I can recognise all the parts. -

I added more air to air firepower to my plane, it now has 14. lol. and thank you for the update. I always feel I'm getting cheated when I compete for anything stock, and someone swoops in with a part mod kit that basically makes the craft for you. -

modded parts should have a class of their own. -
laythe exploring challenge!
Kerbies_are_my_Minions replied to jbaltus123's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm soon going to stream marooning jeb on laythe purposely. I don't want him to come back. I'm sending him in a plane mounted to an asymetrical lift system. will this count, or be disqualified because I don't bring him back? I plan on doing some slingshots to get out there too. -
Space Age Throwback: Kerbal War 1
Kerbies_are_my_Minions replied to willwolvescry's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
oh sorry, i erased the wrong line. why more points for rockets anyways? I wish there where smaller decouplers to launch just the seps. lol it was fun, though. no points for ejection seating? I don't think modded parts should get bonus points. that's a little unfair to us that roll only stock craft. oh, and I guess since my bombs would count as guided bombs and not air to ground missiles because they are not powered, so knock another 5 each off for that, so 295. (though all it would take is a pair of seps to make them powered) sorry, it was late in the night when I did this. -

I just so happen to have a bi plane laying around so I did your little fun. I don't tippically like simulating war in ksp, so... lets call this Jebs dream. fyi, could hardly hear you over your plane. http://www.twitch.tv/jasonlii/c/2583280 Take-off Speed: 30m/s - 60m/s 20pts Maneuverability: Tight maneuverability 20pts Engine Type: Efficient Rocket Engine 30pts Weapons (Optional and points for each type and amount the aircraft is holding when air born) Air-Air Missile 30pts *4 Air-Ground Missile 20pts *2 Bonus Points: Extra Kerbal 10pts Hit a selected target with a weapon (Not including lasers and must be non-created) 10pts per hit *6 Jebediah Kerman is pilot (must not be edited in) 25pts And didn't count any points for my attempted water landing. but I think it was pretty good. grand total of 325? -
Boats! In SPAAAACE!
Kerbies_are_my_Minions replied to AlphaFish's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Heavy and A-symmetric means verry little. this craft was build more for looks than functionality in water, but, I still have it around http://imgur.com/a/c7unE -
I make alot of really realistic-ish looking planes http://imgur.com/a/jC2hm. they all fly really nicely, but spitfires are one of my fav make of plane. I thought about doing the lap in several other planes, but got tired of flying to the track for tonight. lol thanks for liking it though. I don't know the time. I just roughly guessed the time. Im sure a small simple kerbalish plane would be quick and agile though.

Now This Is Pod Racing!
Kerbies_are_my_Minions replied to Plur303's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
lol, I did the SAME THING for a first person view on mine! yes, iva would be nice with the seat. unfortunatly, the view from the chariot on my racer is nothing spectacular. -
No time warp, I'm just good at distructive driving. this was the result of a high speed end over end at an odd angle. the wheels that broke off are the corners that where impacting the ground on each rotation. You won't be able to do anything about the water. water trailing a part has the same impact as water ahead of the part. this means if you put a pannel leading a seat to impact and break the water, so that that the seat is safe, it will not work.
-
First attempt. Max speed strait into the water. Broke the lights, the seat, the probe, and the radial hard point. Second attempt. High speed turn resulting in sideways end over end tumble. Broke the wheels and rollcage.

lifting surfaces may be the problem still, but now that you mention it, you may try moving the attachment point farther back. the drag of the chariot not only keeps tention on the cables, but also will help keep the engines pointing in the right direction. my suggestion would be to have it attached behind the com, but lvl with it top to bottom. -

that's pretty much what everyone is doing, Plur. I've been trying to play with an original design for my podracer, where it's just as good, maybe a little faster, but less Anikin looking. I just havn't been able to do anything I really like other than the one I have. -

@Sam Hmm. I'm glad you got the rotation problem fixed, now it looks like it's just down the the nose dives? Have you tried different throttle speeds? you could possibly try attaching some control surfaces at an angle to fight the dive. I would certainly try different throttles to see if it helps. Could be the center of thrust. you didn't show that in your video. -

does lift and mass show to be perfectly centered? slightly off can mean big trouble. could you possibly show a vid of you trying to fly this? -

Kerbies_are_my_Minions replied to Plur303's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
mine doesn't spin uncontrollably, but it does want to aileron roll slowly. all of my planes do it and the direction of the roll is determaned by which side I build from when useing symitry. double check and mike sure you find ALL hidden forms of lift though. there might be another hidden in there.
