Air Superiority Fighter Competition
exbyde replied to HeroBrian_333's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Alright, and so for the first of the two battle i have recorded, we have @l0kki's wunderwaffle III AUSF G.2 up against @loki130's Pachy (you know it's going to be good when all the thumbnails are explosions Pachy loses its 5th place spot, with the Wunderwaffle becoming our new 5th place roster! And in our second battle today, we have @l0kki's Wunderwaffle G.2 up against the Sanngrior, the ultra-maneuverable drone. The sanngrior beats out the waffle in a 3-round match, meaning the Wunderwaffle stays at 5th place to greet aspiring board rank aircraft.- 1,012 replies

And for our next challenge, we put @loki130's pachy, the aircraft that wins in losing, against the Sanngrior, a micro drone. Who will win? In the first round, the Pachys cockpits get released to chew up the enemy Sanns In the next round, the Pachys get torn up by the Sann's guns, even in their miniature form Third time isn't the charm, and the pachy is defeated by its unpredictability. The pachy will continue on as our #5 aircraft, though due to inconsistency with its dual-plane system, we reserve the right to have it fight against the previous 5th place Taisch if it proves to be unpredictable. go for it!- 1,012 replies

It really didn't matter much, your aircraft are great works of scale, but aren't really designed around competing in competitions like this. Turnrates were way too slow.- 1,012 replies

Air Superiority Fighter Competition

Alright ladies and gents, i've got something for you tonight that'll honest to Jeb blow your socks clean off. On the runway tonight is @SuicidalInsanity's X-02 Taisch, brought back to fill the void in the lineup from the Bezerker turret debacle. Its a well-known gunfighter with high accuracy and impressive performance with a single cannon. And on the grass is the newcomer, a plane i sorely regret forgetting, @loki130's F-9 Pachy. And at first glance, this thing is heavy, real heavy! With a pair of Panthers and a Whiplash, it's more of an interceptor than anything else, and with 12 missiles on the wings/fuselage, it's armed for the teeth. So who will win? On the turn, we see the AI on the Pachy is set with a lot of aggression, spamming missiles at the Taisch, but the Taisch dodge that...for the most part, Again we see the pseudo-common sight of a taisch blowing itself up with a missile, setting it two to three, but this isn't an issue for the taisch...or is it? (WARNING: these videos are 5-7 minutes apiece, there is a good reason for this). On the second battle, the Taisch show their guns off, dodging the same pit they hit last time. On the third battle, for all the marbles...the taisch goof big, unlocking the full potential of not one but TWO of the pachys. At the end of the day, the Pachy reigns supreme in a move that was a huge surprise to me. @HeroBrian_333- 1,012 replies

We will not be using temporary aircraft removal as a form of protest over rules you were aware of on aircraft submission. You asked for your aircraft to be recalled ,and it is recalled and will remain as such. hero is welcome to run the tests on that aircraft if he feels otherwise, as i will not be. You are also welcome to submit a revision or design if you would like. Oh, just pull all the fuel from the rear tank.- 1,012 replies

Shouldn't be. Did you pull the fuel from over the cg or from the front? Also, you need chaff dispensers, as all you have are flares.- 1,012 replies

No longer in combat does not mean never fought. Any aircraft that surpasses the Bertroll (#4) will automatically make 2nd place to fight dorito as the F-25 has been recalled by owner and the Bezerker is ineligible due to rule changes.- 1,012 replies

Air Superiority Fighter Competition
exbyde replied to HeroBrian_333's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
And now, since we're here, lets blow up some airplanes. On the one side we have the newcomer, the WunderWaffle III AuSF G, a plane that's seen significant improovement through several iterations from newcomer @l0kki. On the other, we have the Sanngrior, a low-profile design from @Thor Wotansen, our former number 2 aircraft. The first battle was a pretty good brawl. As the aircraft shot through the missile gap, they engaged. The Sanns got a first kill with a missile to the Waffle's tail. However, the Waffle got right to work, knocking down Sanns with their vulcan cannons. In the end, it was a duel between one sann and one waffle, ending in the more maneuverable sann cutting the waffle to bits. In the second battle, the Sanns were mercilous, ripping the Waffles apart. The waffles proved quite survivable, with an aircraft continuing to fight after losing about a third of the wing area on one wing. While the Luftwaffle may have lost against the sann, its still shown impressive results against a very refined design. Will be interesting to see the H revision.- 1,012 replies

Actually, did the homework for you. Full afterburner consumption at sea level topped around 350 and consumed 460 units of fuel, so you can reduce exactly half of the fuel in your aircraft without an issue. Roll rate is a little lackluster at lower speeds, but easily fixed with a change in control surfaces on the tail/moving the AIM-120s in towards the fuselage. Stall's very low, which is great, pitch is very responsive, and yaw's there.- 1,012 replies

Fly five minutes full throttle/burners and note fuel used. Get rid of anything else. Will help a lot. Most fights from 15k are under or at 3min, and aircraft reduce throttle to hold around 120m/s on the way out (no burners usually)- 1,012 replies
