Finally my game visuals are starting to look the way I want them to. Just need to figure out how to get the Parallax 2.0 trees out of my urban area. And maybe move the "city" out of the direct line with the runway at KSC. Night lights look mostly good. Also I updated my map that I need to post to my old PSA "world" thread. Here's the WIP pic of the map in Paint.Net: It's a rescaled 2.667x Kerbin. City lights detail textures ("Day", "Night") are from JNSQ, so no redistributing. City lights main texture is a mashup of one of the CC-licensed packs and my hand editing with a stylus on my touchscreen laptop.

If you already have Toolbar Controller installed, you can uncheck the display checkbox there.

Kerbal Space Program 2 Release into Early Access Feb 24th
panarchist replied to Intercept Games's topic in 2022
Late to the party here, but - they're not asking the community to do QA - QA is what you do prior to the release when the feature set is established and the coding and internal smoke testing is done. What they're asking for is assisting in requirements gathering and User Acceptance Testing. The feature set isn't settled, the scope is defined, but that's about it. You don't pay people for doing UAT - the customer does UAT for free to ensure that the software does what they want it to do, i.e. meets the requirements. What Intercept/Private Division is offering/asking for is for the community to define the requirements (within limits) and tell them if what they've coded implements those features the way we want them to work. Also, how do you figure 6 years? KSP2 wasn't announced until August 2019 - that's 3 years ago. -
Buffalo 2 Modular Space Exploration Vehicle
panarchist replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Navy term in general. I was carriers, not subs, but there were a lot of similarities. A gang maintained the generators, air conditioning plant, condensers, etc. MP Division maintained the boilers, reduction gear, shaft bearings and seals, etc. On a nuke carrier, R Division maintained the reactor. This was in the late 80s / early 90s - the Division responsibilities and nomenclature drifts over time. Fun to see the other former squids / swabbies on this forum pipe up! -
"pumping" Pebbles would make me nervous. I get that it's designed for that, just hope that the pyrolytic carbon shell doesn't break off when it collides with other pebbles or the reactor walls - else there goes your moderation, here comes hot spots!

[Minimum KSP: 1.12.2] Heisenberg - Airships Part Pack
panarchist replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Did you install the HL Airships dependency? Heisenberg won't work without it. (the dll - you don't need the parts or spaces in HL Airships) Most common cause is weight imbalance. Can also happen on turns - if you aren't using gyro rings or RCS, that could also cause it. Can you provide more detail? How are you trying to do it? From the HL Airships button, you want to select Altitude Control On, make sure Target Vertical Velocity reads 0, select Auto Pitch On. When Buoyancy - Weight is 0 (or very close to it), click + a couple times to get 0.1-0.5 m/s of upward lift, and that should do it. -
You may encounter issues with statics being above or below the terrain. I play with a 2.667x rescale (JNSQ is that scale), and I've had to adjust the altitude and/or location of statics at almost every base. Plus a couple like Uberdam needed extensive work to look right. The good thing is it'll give you plenty of experience working with KK.

Buffalo 2 Modular Space Exploration Vehicle
panarchist replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Exactly. Not just your own mods, but also adopting and enhancing Snacks, contributing to the community, answering people's questions, telling stories (Mission reports), etc. Your... consumers? Players? Fan base? are always going to want more - most will be respectful, but if you've set a hard stop, keep the hard stop and enjoy the fruits of your labors. The rest of us will understand, and those who don't, well, maybe they'll learn how to create their own mods and get a full understanding of how demanding and thankless it can be. (and hopefully how rewarding and empowering it can be) -
[KSP 1.8+] Kerbal Konstructs (Continued)
panarchist replied to NathanKell's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Are those the only 4 mods you have installed? If not, try just with those 4. (plus Module Manager, obviously) Scatterer may have interactions if it's not up to date. If that doesn't resolve it, try removing the JNSQ_Configs/KK folder and try again. If it doesn't hang with the KK folder removed, then it's possible the KK patches don't account for the most recent updates in KK. JNSQ hasn't been updated in a long time. -

It's been a long time - but your time is finally near! (sorry, it HAD to be said) -
I saw someone get clickrolled above, but what about eight-click-seven-five-three-oh-nine Jenny?

Today, the Union of Kerbalized Kommunist Republiks launched Stayputnik IV, their first "successful" orbital launch. The quotes is because thanks to a launch error, rather than a circular orbit, Stayputnik IV went into an eccentric retrograde orbit - but hey, it's stable. No comment as yet by the Panarchist Space Agency, who had hoped to beat the Kommunists into space. PSA currently hosts Valentina Kermanova, a UKKR pilot and prospective kosmonaut, under an exchange program with the UKKR space agency, Roskosmos.

Cool, thanks! I looked briefly at your code, (I can read code ok, I just suck at writing it) and you're already pulling SMA in CelestialBodyExtensions.cs (line 49), so hopefully it's not difficult to add that as an optional display item. If you can't do the other, that's ok - having the SMA would let me calculate the orbital period.

Hi Snark - first off, this is a wonderful mod that I love very much. I'd like to respectfully request if it's possible, (and if you have time and motivation) can you please add "Distance" (i.e. Semi-major axis) to the list? Also, would it be possible to display the orbital period in days? The default in KSP is to display the orbital period in the most convenient unit - Kerbin shows as "1y", for example. Which works great in most cases unless one is playing in another scale, and one doesn't know (and is trying to find out) the year length in days at that scale. If you have no desire to, that's cool, and I respect that. I just figured it definitely ain't happening if I don't ask. ;-)

Beautiful plane - what kind of range are you getting out of it? The biggest issue I've had with my planes (and airships) are very limited range. (also, what altitude do you consider to be "crusing altitude" for this plane?

Didn't have time to post last night, so "Today" means "in the last 24 hours". Still plugging away at my Kerbal universe (meaning the customized install that I plan to write some fiction in - see my sig for the "old" one), and I've created my Kerbal cities and a custom citylights.dds for EVE. It's a 2.6667x scale Kerbin star system + OPM and eventually 1-3 other star systems. (haven't decided which planet pack(s) yet) Here's the map: What I did yesterday was build an airship base with Kerbal Konstructs in the UK. (United Kerbdom) Left over from the Great War with Kermania, Koljester Army Air Base hosted both UK and US airships that fought the Von Kermans over occupied Keltika. After the war, the airships were mothballed at several bases around Kerbin. Recently, the Panarchist Space Agency made a deal to place 2 satellites in orbit (1 for the UK, 1 for the US) in exchange for 2 airships - the Lindy Kerman, a reconnaissance airship, and the Hornet, a flying aircraft carrier. I built both airships yesterday, after which Jeb, Bob, Bill, and new recruit Val lifted off from Koljester AAB in the Lindy, and piloted it to a refueling stop at Jeb's Junkyard and Used SpaceAirship Parts on their way to its new permanent home at KSC. More pics in the spoiler PSA's intent is to use the airships to recover space capsules and other recoverable items when they return to Kerbin. Critics have called it "putting the kart before the horse", since the KSC and other PSA facilities have yet to put any craft into space.

It's working just fine in the latest version of KSP. Try the suggestions here.

Rational Resources 2.0.7 [May 21, 2024]
panarchist replied to JadeOfMaar's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
It's a (relatively) recent change, and if you weren't looking at the patch notes / new feature for that release you probably missed it. I believe it was in 1.10.1, fall 2020 or so.- 995 replies

The Rest In Peace thread: Producer Roger Corman, May 9, 2024
panarchist replied to StrandedonEarth's topic in The Lounge
Every once in a great while they crank out a good song, but yeah. We lost Olivia Newton-John this year too, and she started her music career singing country. -
kerbal ftl [Min KSP 1.12.2] Blueshift: Kerbal FTL
panarchist replied to Angelo Kerman's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
There aren't. Someone was complaining about it the other day in that thread. -
And with that mod, the Retro IVA CRTs still don't work correctly. I've been trying to fix it off and on for months when I have the inclination and spare time, and have only partially succeeded.

I have no idea how I missed that.

I wish I'd found this before I created my own. I don't suppose you've done one with the locations of the emergency air fields from KSR GAP Extras?
