What can a scientist in my Star Wars fan fic be working on?
Gargamel replied to Maximum7's topic in The Lounge
Please refrain from using huge fonts in glaring colors, it makes it difficult to load or read on some platforms. Thank you.- 88 replies

It was made quite clear, to me at least, in the wording of the free updates clause, that it would not cover anything like a KSP2.

Stock no, mods yes. It's already been done, KoS, KPRC, and Smart Parts, among others have various levels of ability to do just that.

For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread

Gravity, but that probably won't be practical for your application, whatever it is. -

[1.12.x] KSP Resonant Orbit Calculator
Gargamel replied to linuxgurugamer's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Google translate. Hi Javelius, Welcome to the forums! We ask that all posts in the non-international forums be posted in English. Posting in your native language and then translating to English in the same post is fine. Переводчик Google. Привет Javelius, Добро пожаловать на форумы! Мы просим, чтобы все сообщения на немеждународных форумах публиковались на английском языке. Публикация на своем родном языке, а затем перевод на английский в том же посте - это хорошо. -
Some notes about the Index. There are two types of threads listed here: General catch all discussion. These threads, like the SpaceX thread, are mega-threads that are intended for general discussions on a variety of topics. If they exist, they will be the main header for that topic. Topic specific Threads. These are threads that are about a specific aspect of a mission/launch. These will be listed under the topic as a subcategory. I have listed Curiosity right now without any links, proposals for threads would be appreciated. Since we won't be getting anything new from Opportunity, I've only linked the Eulogy thread, but I can link specific threads as subs if there is a desire from the community. If a topic has a couple/few threads on it, and the threads are relatively simple, we can consider merging them into one and listing that one. I am also considering adding a "Programs" category to the list. Stuff like land based Observatories, or upcoming possible projects. If I get a few nominations, I'll add it. One other side note, this is not an official list at all. It is a community curated and maintained index. Threads will be added or removed by general consensus of the community. The initial seed list was just me going back through the last dozen pages of the forum to get some starter links.

Science Lab Not Transmitting
Gargamel replied to DrJinx's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Ok then. On to the technical aspects of the question. i think the logs might help out here. If you would kindly attempt to transmit the science again, and then upon completion, post your output.log to a file hosting service and link it here, we could take a look for anything erroneous. Making a long, multi-orbit burn
Gargamel replied to Grogs's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Others will come along and post the best way to do multiple burns like you asked, but as for full thrust... I would make a quick save, go to full thrust, see if anything wobbles in a bad way (I think this design is going to wobble regardless), reload the quicksave and autostrut to heaviest anything that is moving too much. Now..... the problem with this idea. When you go to dock and undock, some/all of those autostruts will have to re-attach to another part. That is known to cause Kraken attacks and rip the ship apart. But if you only autostrut one central part from each docked module to the heaviest part, then when you undock, you only have to turn off one autostrut. The parts themselves should be attached solidly enough within each module, so one autostrut per module should suffice. If, though, you are docking or undocking the heaviest part, you'll have to turn them all off. Or quicksave, don't turn them off, and hope the Kraken doesn't notice you, if it does, load the QS, and turn them off manually. -
Science Lab Not Transmitting
Gargamel replied to DrJinx's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I'm going to just get the obvious, dumb question out of the way so we can move on to the real cause of the issue. Your station does have an antenna on board? If launch and assembly were manned the whole time, you might not have noticed the inability to communicate with the ground. -
How does software "work"?
Gargamel replied to Cheif Operations Director's topic in Science & Spaceflight
This is what happens when you allow an engineer to become a wood worker. I've corresponded with Matthias (the video poster) on a couple projects I've done in the past. Nice Guy. -
This thread is an attempt to organize all our Space Program Launch and Mission Threads into a single, easily searchable, index. If you find a thread about a mission or launch, please post a link to the thread here. I will append it to the list. This is intended to keep all our pertinent discussions about launches and missions in one thread per topic, to prevent cross posting and discussions being lost to time. Launch Threads (Public and Private): Arianespace Astra Space Inc Blue Origin Boeing Starliner Brazilian Space Agency CNSA (China) Copenhagen Suborbitals Firefly Aerospace ISA (Iran) ISRO JAXA KARI NASA SLS/Orion NASA (General Discussion) NATGB (DPRK) Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems (Orbital ATK) Phantom Space Rocket Labs Russian Launch Thread SpaceX Stoke ULA Vector Space Systems Virgin Galactic Individual Missions: Artemis BepiColombo Beresheet Curiosity Dragonfly Hayabusa 2 Insight ISS JWST LOP-G JUICE LUCY MAVEN New Horizons Opportunity (Eulogy) OSIRIS-REx Perserverance PSYCHE PLATO/ARIEL SPEHREx TESS

Well, there are the base utility mods, like KAC, Hyper Edit, TAC Fuel Balancer. And the parts packs, like KW, Near Future, and SSPX, among others. But my game is mainly driven the game play -esque mods, like Final Frontier, Contract Configurator, Snacks, and LaunchFailure. Things that make the game more, tangible I guess.

request for module manager: Remove the Nyan Cat
Gargamel replied to Jestersage's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
It's harmless, doesn't affect gameplay, doesn't affect load times, is completely cosmetic, and only occurs during a phase of the game where you can completely ignore it. I see no reason to demand it's removal, it's completely up to Sarbian to remove it if they want to. -

Remove The Not_Rockomax Micronode
Gargamel replied to Aeroboi's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
One of my favorite sayings on the internet is: The best way to get a correct answer on the internet, is to first, yourself, post an incorrect one. I think we have found a corollary to that. I don't ever recall having used it myself, but thanks to this Micro-Node Awareness Thread, I think I might consider it at some point.
