Just point and laugh, and realize that this is exactly the same kind of banter that goes on during real discussions between politicians, only... the internet discussions are probably more mature.

Even 'random' has 'cursed' people that it prefers to pick on.

Have you tried to time when it happens to see if there are any consistencies?

But wait, something still has to go down and collect a direct sample. We can already get the same results from the nuclear explosion by having a probe pass through the plumes. Oh, nevermind. Jeb can just go down with the probe and collect a sample after it blows up.

It's probably not even SONY, just a trolls exploiting Youtube's overly easy claim system. Very similar to patent trolling. Often these trolls will even collect money from ads on videos they've put a claim on, even if the claim isn't validly theirs. And since as a youtube user, contesting a claim could lead to a court battle they can't afford, claims almost NEVER get contested. So a troll can steal money from countless videos with a near 0% chance of being caught.

I'm skeptical enough about a probe having enough power to drill (or melt) its way 40km down. Going back up is going to be even worse. IF it can reach the ocean, I think it's safe to assume that it's going to stay there. And any transmissions are going to have to be wireless. And... Gosh I wish this kind of functionality existed in KSP, with mission problems so intricate that they could have us all debating possible solutions.

Laser tag arenas are an epic experience. But, I think you're worrying yourself a bit too much.

A button to turn asteroids off
vger replied to Rainbowtrout's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'm guessing this is beyond simply 'not tracking them?' You want the map to appear without little question marks dotting it? Probably not a bad idea. Maybe the button for turning that off can be named "Cut Near Kerbal Object Program From Budget" -
<<<ERROR: Forum Comment Button inoperative until further notice>>> Suspected cause of error: Class-X9 Solar Flare.

Homogenisation of Part Design and Style
vger replied to FanaticalFighter's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Could it be that the older parts were textured at a lower resolution, and just need to be updated? -
EVA taking a surface sample from an asteroid during reentry? Jeb: *gulp*

Yeah, anti-aliasing should get rid of that. -
Increase Load Distance .23.5
vger replied to Paperback Writer's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yep, this. -
Having the probe melt its way through was the first thought I had too, but couldn't even take a guess at how much power that would require (or how long it would take). The lighter gravity needs to be factored into that too.
-
I just use it for the readouts because I like them a lot more than the stock instruments. Though I'm not one who takes issue with people who use the autopilot.

Aha, well 200m depth is certainly a lot more reasonable than 40km. Curious question about glaciers though, are fissures so common that you could land pretty much anywhere and find one so shallow?
-
It's is going to destroy us all. What are we going to do? Our defenses are broken. We have no other choice. You don't mean-- Yes. We must launch 0.23.5. It's the only thing that can stop Mechjeb now.
-
Could a probe as light as a spacecraft needs to be have any hope of surviving? With the planet being yanked around by gravity the way it is, it seems to me that drilling down through the ice would be comparable to squeezing through a crack in a glacier and hoping nothing shifts.

Never saw it.

Can both Career Mode and Sandbox Mode be balanced simultaneously?
vger replied to Red Iron Crown's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Ehh... how did you arrive at the conclusion that the only reason to not overpower lowbies in a game is for PvP purposes? The example I gave is at least as old as Dungeons and Dragons. So I'll give you a PvE example of how this is bad. You give the 'nuke' power to your low level wizard who is running around in noob territory. He starts blasting the weakling creatures in droves, and levels up 10x faster than he should be, until he finally reaches the stages with bigger monsters that the power was actually created to deal with. How does this apply to KSP? Let's look at how the career system is currently structured. 1. Each tier of the tech tree costs more science to research than the previous one. 2. Distant planets yield more science than local bodies such as the Mun or Minmus (Kerbin itself being the least generous, since it's right under your nose). 3. Gaining a tier on the tech tree gives you the tools to gain more science from places you've already been to, as well as reach more distant worlds. Were it not for upgrades from Tier 2, gaining enough science to research tier 3 would be next to impossible. More distant planets yield more science than the Mun for a reason, because they're harder to reach. Players can now use this rocket at an earlier tech stage to grab a disproportionate amount of science, resulting in an unintended (probably) quantum leap in research. Often in single-player games (this is particularly important in open world games with non-linear progression - which KSP definitely is) there will be places you pass by while carrying your pathetic collection of equipment, and think, "Now how am I ever going to get over there?" or "How am I going to kill that thing?" The answer comes later when you find the grappling hook and the silver arrow, which can only be unlocked by doing lower level content. And even without what I just said, risk is coming to KSP anyhow. One of the systems that has yet to be added to career mode is reputation. Reputation means the whole world is watching, so don't do things like... forget to convert English to Metric and smash a 10-billion-Kredit probe into Duna, and it DEFINITELY means you should avoid getting your Kerbonauts killed. I'm not really sure why this addition is even necessary to say the game has risk though. It already does. In countless games, death doesn't come with any risk beyond having to start over again at your last save point. Why is this good enough to be considered risk in a combat game, but not KSP? -
Can both Career Mode and Sandbox Mode be balanced simultaneously?
vger replied to Red Iron Crown's topic in KSP1 Discussion
One of the main reasons that games exist is that they don't follow the rules of real life. Were this a role-playing game, would you recommend the most powerful spell available to the wizard be granted at level 10, if level 50 is the maximum? Basic game theory, folks.
