This actually made me involuntarily shudder. It is the one and only reason I will never recommend KSP on console to anyone. Even if it's the only way you can play it. Regarding your request, it's not a magic bullet, physics delta. Too many parts is too many parts and you're going to get bad framerates when you have too many. Especially those open docking ports checking each other over and over to see if you're docking. Regarding stopping calculating physics I agree but neither of us are game programmers (I am assuming about you but am sure about me) so we have no actual idea if it'd work or not, or what problems it would cause.

Kraken ship! - Why?
Superfluous J replied to RedeyePete's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Watch out if you have debris set to 0 and a ship you want to keep set to debris, it WILL vanish as soon as you stop looking at it. -

Kraken ship! - Why?
Superfluous J replied to RedeyePete's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
You can change the vessel type in game, when naming the ship. Right click a command pod/part and rename. You can view debris in the map mode. Put your cursor at the middle of the top of the screen and a little filter will come down. Debris is the very first icon and disabled by default. -
Mars 'impossible" to terraform
Superfluous J replied to TheGuyNamedAlan's topic in Science & Spaceflight
To answer your question, of course it can. With infinite resources we could give it more mass, move it to Earth's orbit, seed it with atmosphere and give it life. To answer the question I think you're asking, no I don't really ever see us terraforming Mars or any other planet. I expect it'll always be far cheaper and easier to just build sealed habitats. -
Balloon into orbit
Superfluous J replied to Cassel's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Not if you have MOAR BALLOONS. -
Technically speaking, a question is a post posted in the forums where posts are questions. A non-question is a post in every other forum. Practically speaking, if you have a question that has an answer to it (a specific answer, like "how do docking ports work" or something) then you should post it in the appropriate forum and it will be a "question" post. Then when people answer it, others can vote those answers up and when voted up they move to the top of the page, in order of number of votes. When one solves your problem, you can mark it as correct and it goes to the very top no matter how many votes it or other posts have. Then, people know at a glance if the problem's been solved. If you're just curious what people's opinions are (with no specific answer like "what do you think about SpaceX going to Mars" or something) then you should post it in the appropriate forum and it will be a regular post. People can reply and "like posts" but there is no sorting other than by date. Realistically speaking, we as users frequently treat both the same, for better or worse

excrements got real!
Superfluous J replied to Joe78man's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You basically just identified yourself as exactly like 99% of the users here. You change that by decopuling everything but the pod and the parachute. A pod plus a chute is designed to fall fat-end first. A pod plus a chute with stuff attached to it may not be. If you are truly coming down with ONLY a mk1 pod (the dark grey cone one) with a single default chute on top and you're coming down upside down, then you are experiencing a bug. And I'd like to see a picture of it because it's something I've never ever seen. -
Sometimes OKTO wont SAS
Superfluous J replied to se5a's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Huh. I never knew clicking worked, and I've played the game for 5 years. No clue what's wrong. Is it really only the OKTO or is the OKTO just the only probe core you've used recently? -
Part sorting VAB/SPH
Superfluous J replied to JoE Smash's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
One thing I learned long, long ago: Users are not qualified to decide what bugs programmers should be working on. This goes for complaining that they haven't fixed a particular bug, and also for deciding whether or not to report a bug. Report the bug or they'll never fix it, or even know about it. -
cant attach anything to command pod
Superfluous J replied to Xeiss's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Maybe it's a Steam/non-Steam thing. My output_log.txt is in d:\ksp\KSP_x64_Data\ because I installed KSP in d:\ksp\ It never occurred to me that it would be in a totally different directory if you used Steam, considering I copy that Steam install to my own drive whenever there's an update. However I just checked and sure enough it's not there even though I have run the Steam install. Weird, and sorry for the confusion. -
cant attach anything to command pod
Superfluous J replied to Xeiss's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Hm I really don't know . I just know that there's no way "MechJeb" would be in any stock files. Hopefully someone else will come along with better ideas. -
cant attach anything to command pod
Superfluous J replied to Xeiss's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Could you verify that your GameData folder is totally empty, except the "Squad" folder? I see that there are no other folders except Squad, but I'm seeing this error when loading parts: [ERR 19:02:25.046] Cannot find a PartModule of typename 'MechJebCore' Also, search for "*mechjeb*" from the root folder and all subfolders. Also, in case you haven't done it yet try "verify integrity of game files" from the Steam right-click menu. -
cant attach anything to command pod
Superfluous J replied to Xeiss's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
This is really weird. Do this, it won't fix it but it'll hopefully help. Uninstall from Steam. Delete local content from Steam. Delete all the files again, and the directory to be sure. Mine's "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\" and that's the default. Reinstall. Don't install any mods. Load the game, and test. If it works fine great. Exit the game. Upload these 2 files to a file uploading service like Google drive, and link them here: "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\ksp.log" Either: "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\ksp_data\output_log.txt" "c:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\ksp_x64_data\output_log.txt" Hope we see something -
excrements got real!
Superfluous J replied to Joe78man's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Actually the game hasn't really gotten more "realistic" or harder even since 1.0 was released and the atmosphere changed. Unless that's what you're talking about and you're saying it was easier in 0.90 and before. In which case I agree with you, it was. It was also less fun of course Rockets flipping has been a problem since 1.0 dropped, and it's always had the same two causes: center of mass too far back, and going too fast in the thickest atmosphere. These can be mitigated by adding fins and not turning too sharply, but the best fix is to move your COM forward and slow the excrement down. -
cant attach anything to command pod
Superfluous J replied to Xeiss's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
Your screen shots do not show a command pod in the VAB. It looks like you're trying to attach a solid booster to... something tiny and cylindrical. -

What gameplay rules do you impose on yourself?
Superfluous J replied to Klapaucius's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Rescuing Kerbals is a great way to pad your astronaut corps for better than free. Rescuing EVERY Kerbal that comes up in Mission Control is an exercise in madness. -

What gameplay rules do you impose on yourself?
Superfluous J replied to Klapaucius's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I tried that once. My entire save was "Kerbal rescue program" and I never made any progress. -
Decoupling stages at the wrong time
Superfluous J replied to SagansSpace's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
If you hover your mouse over the events in the stages, the parts that will do that thing will highlight. This is how I troubleshoot any and all staging problems. Works in flight and in the VAB.
