  1. There is a mod or web page that lets you find launch windows for multiple gravity assist missions, but I don't remember the name. A little time on Google may find it.
  2. It's one of the hardest things in the game. It's one of the very few things I haven't even bothered trying.
  3. You don't even need a mod. Look into Autostruts. Enable "Advanced Tweakables" in the settings and then check the right click menu in the VAB. If you're in a career, you don't see them until you unlocked regular struts. Don't go crazy with them. Too many and your ship will shake itself apart trying to stay perfectly in line with all the struts telling it what to do, as quickly or quicker than no struts would. But in moderation they can hold the spindliest of ships together. And FWIW real metal bends under massive pressures. If it didn't, it'd snap.
  4. "Prescription" (and recipe) comes from the Latin verb "recipe," which means "to take." The Rx (or more accurately ℞) was shorthand for that word, and remained with us when for whatever reason we started saying "prescription" instead.
  5. I don't know if I've ever flown United. If I can, I always fly Southwest and board late in the B Group or early in C, even if I have an A boarding pass. For those who don't know, you don't get a seat when you get your ticket, you get your seat when you get on the plane in the order that you register (24 hours before takeoff). People who wait on their computers to snatch up their reservations are in Group A, normals are in Groups B and C, and if you remember an hour before liftoff you're in Group D. Group A gets the best seats. Group B gets some other good seats at the start, and then when those are gone they get to (which is most important to me) pick who they sit next to. Late Group C and all of Group D get stuck with the rest. I'd rather sit between two neatly dressed people with earbuds than have an aisle seat in an exit row next to John Candy from Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Anyway, when I can't fly Southwest I fly... I don't know. Whoever has the cheapest ticket because every airline that's not Southwest is the same to me.
  6. Interesting restriction. I may try this. I have a long-standing "No Science Lab" rule and just initiated a "One Contract Per 'build a new craft...' Craft." As in, no building a single satellite to complete 4 contracts. And no building a single ship to satisfy "new station around kerbin," "New station around Sun," "New station around Duna," and "New base on Ike" contracts. I also have an almost inviolate "everything must crash or be thrown free" rule. No debris on any stable orbit. Ever. Mostly.
  7. I was a late adopter to Steam, it's true. I didn't start using it until about 4 years ago when I realized that it was - of the easy to use methods - the most likely to get automatic instant updates for all the games I wanted to play. At that time I got several games that I'd already purchased off-steam (FTL and KSP most notably) on Steam as well. Since then I've seen Factorio and Rimworld use Steam heavily yet also have an active non-Steam following (And no DRM in their games), and Paradox (paradoxically?) use Steam workshops exclusively yet have a bootleg mod site that's kind of sketchy yet popular (or at least it seems so).
  8. Sadly I don't do modeling. I just took someone else's model and slapped the stock stats on it. If someone had a 2.5 meter AGU model, it'd probably already be available as a mod One idea, radial AGU. No clue how that'd work but it's an interesting thought.
  9. I learned this years ago when I got a fortunate Laythe encounter that put me in a fantastic Jool orbit. I posted about it and because I save everything, I have it right here. Substitute "Duna" for "Jool" and "Ike" for "Laythe" and this should work wonders. One more thing: Give yourself at least 5 on the CONIC_PATCH_LIMIT. I actually keep it at 8. It's in the settings.cfg and you can also set it directly if you have PeciseNode installed.
  10. The current version of this is a bit harder than I'd realized upon testing it. I'm new to making missions, and was under the impression that checkpoints were in the missions that you distribute. They are not, and are only for testing purposes. So, if you crash you lose and have to start over, whereas I intended that you should be able to go back to the last checkpoint. This is particularly bad for this mission as it takes some time to complete and the two hardest things (Tylo and Laythe) are the last 2 things you do. It is NO FUN to crash on Tylo and instantly get a GAME OVER and have to start back with the Pol lander. I'm leaving this up, because it's still cool and if you beat it you beat it in Hardcore mode and should be proud of yourself. However, I'll be modifying it in the near future (some time in the next week hopefully) so that crashing isn't an insta-lose so you have a chance to restore from a quicksave.
  11. It shows no signs of heading in that direction. It's like a car changing lanes. There is no real fear that the person doing so will just continue after successfully changing lanes, veering into oncoming traffic or people's front yards. I've seen before games that have for years been available on Steam and have for years used Steam Workshop and have for years had non-Steam versions. Usually those are niches but not because they're not supported, because Steam is a very attractive option to both developers and users.
  12. I've updated to each 1.4.x version as it's come out without much thought. I never found any bugs that were bad enough to roll back. Granted, I play a lot less these days than I used to.
  13. That likely isn't a knowable thing at this point. It depends on how many bugs are found.
  14. I don't know yet. Steam Workshop will likely win out but it's been available for all of a day now.
  15. Oh I do not mind one bit if others allow their computers to do this hateful, terrible thing.
  16. I just finished making a semiridiculous asparagus-staged rocket and fiddled with fuel lines a lot. Not one problem with them. No mods though I do have MH installed.
  17. Neither. Because I HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE it. Like, a lot. Imagine the single biggest hate of your life. I hate it that much.
  18. Surely you mean "in large letters." I didn't even know there was a notification sound. Likely because I silence any and all noises that every device I own could possibly make without my permission.
  19. If you can show your grandmother ANYTHING animated that she doesn't instantly assume is for kids under the age of 12, you've got a pretty cool grandma.
  20. I won't speak for @Lisias but I suspect the concern is that there will be backlash in the KSP community if KSP mods don't work well in the KSP Steam Workshop. Not that any other random game's mods do or don't work in that random game's Steam Workshop. And knowing how much this community likes backlash about mod distribution methods, I agree.
  21. The ingredients of a strawberry look like a mad scientist's experiment.
  22. Steam workshop mods would mean more work for modders and no Steam workshop mods from those modders who don't have Steam. It'll be worse than CKAN. At best you'll need both and at worst you'll also need to load some mods manually.
  23. Anyway back to complaining. I've been waiting for a client to get back to me on something for 2 days, so I could finally start some work for them. They finally did today. 30 minutes before the end of my shift.
