The No Contract Career Challenge
Superfluous J replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I use for science myself so yes it's okay. And changes to settings are fine. On the winner list you'll be "Modded Custom" with a note that the customization made the game harder. -
Running List: Simple Suggestions
Superfluous J replied to Wcmille's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Sadly I don't know. Hopefully someone with console knowledge will be able to help. On the PC you have more inputs (all the keyboard keys), so you don't have to change input modes and the keys do the same thing in map mode as in ship view. -

Welcome to the challenge! I don't mind either way, I like a busy thread but will read external ones too. EDIT: By the way, this is my TEN THOUSANDTH POST. 10,000. Man. That's a lot of thousands. -

No problem with the nitpicking, though I found that nuking rep for funds was not all that lucrative, and I could not really use it regularly because - with no contracts to do - the game was very stingy with rep. How much were you getting? And were you on Normal mode? -

Also, good luck gaining an insane (or even a sane) amount of rep when you're not taking any contracts -

Which is (ironically) why now I'd much prefer a tape deck to a CD player in a car.

The No Contract Career Challenge
Superfluous J replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
So @Cunjo Carl from what I can see, there is a total of 31 times 252k funds, not counting aerodynamics stuff (for simplicity). That's 7,812k funds, or probably (Once you add atmo stuff) right around 8 million funds. Enough to unlock everything, but you need to do a lot. Exactly what I was hoping. I was pretty sure the funds were available after doing my Gilly mission, but it's nice to have the math -

Running List: Simple Suggestions
Superfluous J replied to Wcmille's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I'm against "more science" in general. An astute player can actually unlock the entire tech tree without ever leaving Kerbin's (and Mun's and Minmus') SOI. I'd much rather have science be collected automatically. They can even tie it to needing a scientist on board if they need to "make it harder" but making the player right click a half dozen devices and then get a Kerbal out of the ship to collect the data is not gameplay in my book. Making them go to Duna or Eve to advance their space program is. In particular, though: I am against this from a gameplay perspective, as the sample is one of the only 3 (science related) reasons to send a Kerbal anywhere. And it's the only (science-related) reason to bring them back, as crew and EVA reports can be transmitted home for full return. I do this all the time. I burn a maneuver node, accidentally go over by half a m/s, and RCS jet backwards to tweak my encounter. It doesn't work this way on console? That should definitely be addressed. Maybe it's just a misunderstanding of the controls, or is it really a misfeature on the console? Other than the sample craft, there is nothing pre-built in the game and I'm a bit leery to support them adding things like that. I'd rather there be contracts to put ships with specific parts on them and you get to design those craft. I'd love some sort of randomized, procedural part that you get one of and a contract to put it somewhere and leave it for an extended time, with potential followup contracts for servicing missions. -
I really liked Pacific Rim. Was it realistic? No. But neither was Star Wars or Harry Potter. Going into a movie about giant mechs fighting giant monsters and expecting realistic science is... well let's just say you're setting yourself up for disappointment. My only problem with the first movie was that most every battle was at night in the rain. Probably they did this because it's easier to hide that it's all CGI, but hopefully the 2nd movie will have a better budget for some awesome daytime fights.

Sweet, though there are more than that. You also get funds for leaving and entering SOIs for the first time, and returning home from for the first time. Not 100% but I think you also get a little for the first flag planted. -

Blasty's No Contract Career
Superfluous J replied to Blasty McBlastblast's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Awww I thought they fixed that. You're not the first to try that trick! -
If you can't get the orbital tilt you want at your destination world, just get the periapsis near the target orbit (or the equator if you just want an equatorial orbit). Then - once you arrive - burn down at that periapsis to get an elliptical orbit. Then fixing your tilt will happen at apoapsis far from the world, and so will be as cheap as possible.

The No Contract Career Challenge
Superfluous J replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
If you do not see the difference between that and this, then I can't convince you. As someone who has gone around the KSC dozens of times to collect science, I can attest to its presence and ease of capture. I can also attest to its not helping you buy building upgrades. -
The No Contract Career Challenge
Superfluous J replied to Superfluous J's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
You may misunderstand the science I gained. It took no work, but with menial, unchallenging work I could have gotten it all the same. The mod allowed me to get the science but it came from the stock game. Blame KSP for giving you hundreds of science points on your front doorstep, not the mod. Or my challenge. -

(Hey if nobody else wants to, I'll keep going my own self) https://imgur.com/gallery/DFg5x This time It's a quick Mun flyby, mostly to earn the money to upgrade Mission Control and the Tracking Station, so I'll actually be able to use Maneuver Nodes and Patched Conics on future missions. -
Kerbal Space Program: Making History Expansion - Release Date Announcement
Superfluous J replied to SQUAD's topic in 2018
That's fair. I don't share your opinion on the worth of the game or the DLC but will not argue the points. There have been countless times where I've not bought DLC for a game because I felt it wasn't worth it.- 444 replies

Kerbal Space Program: Making History Expansion - Release Date Announcement
Superfluous J replied to SQUAD's topic in 2018
I don't understand your question, did you purchase the game before the end of April 2013 or not? If you did, you get Making History for free. If you did not, you have to pay for it. You are not "out of luck," you're just "out of $15"- 444 replies
