Weekly Challenge #2 - Air Launch to Orbit

After many issues / bugs I finally got something that works. Now that I've seen other submissions I super impressed what others pulled off! I've never done an air launch like this before and look forward to doing more once the game has had a few patches. -

Anyone having an issue with the craft being destroyed when undocking?

Landed on the Mun! Had a few issues with time warping past the intercept and some strange behavior with the SAS but overall not bad for day 1. RTX 2070 and was running 30-40 fps for the most part.

I assume the people maxing out the "science for funds" are playing on normal. I recommend trying it on hard or less that 50% income to make it harder. On 60% it hard to abuse the "science for funds" as you aren't completely rolling in the funds. A big mistake I made was to try doing 50% of my income for science. I went to get some contracts and they were all wanting me to pay them to do the missions lol. (hard -60% admin -50%) great science though

Humm When steam network is down or I'm down there is an option to start in offline mode. Also you can launch KSP from you steam directory. I think it is in your drive/steamapps/common/KSP or something like that.

Some questions to answer: -Do you think a community alternative is needed at this point? Not Really The rest don't really apply . Sorry just my .02 I think a better way to search for mods would be nice but mostly I want spaceport 2. A dedicated Multiplayer server sounds like a great idea. -
As an experiment they should replace all kerbal models out for ones with female characteristics and see what people say. IMO the game is still in development and we do know female kerbals exist (kerbal creator) it just might be awhile before integrating the KSP crews become a high priority. Good idea for a mod though.

Well done I sometimes wish I could recapture those moments. I had several umm unkerbaled missions to the mun before I had my first kerbals to the mun and back. -
I haven't been having issues. Can you post a pic of you craft and see where the issue might be?

I'm a big fan of the "parts cost money and time" idea. You can launch a quick mission if you have ordered extra parts but it removes the I built and launched a 7 mainsail asparagus launcher in 3 min. Maybe tie it to the tier system ie T1 parts take x days to be delivered and T2 parts take y days to be delivered. Just my .02

I've been restarting every time I get close to maxing out the tech tree for some reason. I seem to loose interest when I have all of the parts and building my launch vehicles becomes simple. I guess I can just limit myself to launching everything with small low tech parts : ) edit - pre .22 my longest game was 2 years - post .22 average is 6 months to 1 year

Very cool station. I'm in the same camp of my fps would be in the tank. Interesting that your CPU wasn't maxed out. Hopefully when the game is better optimized things like this will be a little easier to handle. -

I put together a few rockets and flew around in lko and did not have any performance problems or sas problems. Is it the smaller unmanned rockets people are flipping out under sas?

Well my first shot at this was a complete disaster but important scientific data was recorded. I'll have to make sure to try to hit the sunny side of the mun so I don't hit any hills like I did on this attempt. Lot more DV needed to get there faster as well.
