In case you've missed it...

Fix the barometer.
lajoswinkler replied to arise257's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Mercury doesn't have an atmosphere. It has outgassing. Atmospheres are stable systems, and the particles on Mercury are just spilling into the universe as soon as they're released. A freshly painted bus spinning in solar orbit outgasses, too. That doesn't mean it has an atmosphere. -
Wandering Kerbals
lajoswinkler replied to CalculusWarrior's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
This would be a great thing to have. Not only static animations, but wandering, too (optional, of course; imagine them falling off a cliff). -
Only for Kerbals, and it should be optional from their RMB menus. They should be more lifelike, instead of just grinning. I'd like that.

Would it be possible to "block" the effects of gravity.
lajoswinkler replied to FREEFALL1984's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Also you need to ensure the two objects don't collide, so place some struts in between. -
You don't need pieces that big. Chances to hit them are low already, a metre or to doesn't mean a thing. It is possible to launch hundreds of pieces at once, and it can be very compact.. Just use those small blue separators spaced radially, 8-fold symmetry. 64 of them per "floor", and then stack lots of such floors. Action grouping is a mess, but hey... It's compact. I did a similar thing few days ago and I actually tried to EVA rendezvous with a small cubic strut.

I'm not sure. What experience do you have? Have you ever seen planets through telescope? Do you know what to expect?
-
76 mm primary mirror, and the whole thing is 52 pounds? Seems to be quite expensive, IMHO.
-
You can always mount your binoculars on a tripod. DIY telescopes are a hassle if you're new to the telescopes themselves, so a Dobsonian one is too much work... unless someone is willing to make one for you. However, no matter how cheap Dobsonians are, 60 pounds is really nothing. Metallization of the mirror is the most expensive part in the whole process. You can buy a cheap, crappy toy telescope from the mall, but you'll only get frustrated. Their coverboxes have some of the slimiest commercial lies ever. Nebulas, 100000000000x magnitude!!!!1!1, and they're pathetic.

60 pounds or less? heehee Do not invest in a telescope. Buy a great pair of powerful binoculars. For that money, you can get awesome binoculars and only a crappy telescope.

Guys ... I haven't slept in 4 days
lajoswinkler replied to Renaissance0321's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah, and I shagged the queen of England when I was ten. Unless you have serious neurological problems, being awake for a month is impossible. Young person forcing himself to be awake for full 4*24 hours will experience massive problems and will require a significant time to recover. -

lajoswinkler replied to Renaissance0321's topic in KSP1 Discussion
If you haven't been sleeping for 4 days, you wouldn't be able to write posts on forums. You'd be close to getting to a hospital. -
They work for me.

There should be a nondestructive way. a) Bob is not on a ladder. Start warping the time. 10x. He is a separate "vessel" so he should glide away, as during regular warp, vessels are on rails. If for some reason KSP doesn't let you warp, you need an active object not attached to the station, with almost zero relative motion. Then you warp. Watch Bob, he should slide out. That's all I can think of. You could try whack-a-Kerbal (in alt+F12 menu), but that might be destructive.

[0.21+] Kosmos Spacecraft Design Bureau: Updated (9/27/13)
lajoswinkler replied to Normak's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I have a question regarding those parts that house Kerbals... How do I get them out? They have crew capacity, but they're stuck inside. Map view shows the parts are occupied. -
Stations and unmanned probes.

I've decided to leave everything from now on, until my PC starts choking. If I get hit by something, I'll let you know. So far, zero collisions.

It depends what kind of war. If we're talking about ancient times, when morality was poorly developed and people used to run at each other with spears, prisons did not exist and courts were not heard of, then yes. For the past hundred years or so, the modern times, we have evolved beyond that. It's much more complex now. I presume you've heard of attrocities of WW2, Rwanda, countries in Balkans, etc. War is messy, but some things are crimes. War crimes exist. They are a fact. Rules do apply and "everything is allowed" is not a true statement. Notice I'm primarily talking about things like treatment of PoWs, civillians, cultural heritage. If we talk about rules of armed conflict, not everything is allowed, either. For example if a soldier surrenders in the middle of a fight, drops down his weapons, and you kill him/her, you're a war criminal. Bright as day. "Crimes are perpetrated by the losing party" - that's something not legally accepted these days. It were the times before WW2. Today we have courts (Hague) where everyone can be invited. It's just that sometimes that's difficult to achieve, but rules exist, and if a country does not respect them, it is sanctioned.

I did some more testing of this capsule and I can say this is probably one of the best parts made for KSP ever. It's so immersive. Well done.

Here's the scene when the debris comes again. I'm sorry for the low quality, but this was after I stuffed the orbit with hundreds of pieces of debris. I had to lower the graphic settings just to play on a reasonable framerate. The closest encounter was at 428 m.

Actually, Geneva convention is not only moral, but highly useful. If people would respect it, it would help bringing down the violence. Instead they do disgusting things, and that causes the urge to revenge, and then the whole thing increases in magnitude and resets itself until everyone is either killed or a third party stops everything. The purpose of war today is not to kill people. It is to deter the enemy, send him away, secure the area and gain power over it. Fire exchange does not happen just because, except when some moron makes a mistake. Indeed, war can be done on a wrong way. Sadly, most of them are done just like that. The convention is actually respected for the most part, especially when there are foreign spectators involved. It's mostly the psychos' fault (and there are a lot of psychos among soldiers of all ranks, the job attracts them like s*it attract flies) that terrible things happen. They simply want to do crime and they use the situation as an excuse. That's why we have courts. Serious war criminals (there are degrees of it) should be sentenced to life imprisonment, yet somehow even the worst of them sometimes get 20 years. It's beyond my understanding. Animals as them belong in a cage.
