  1. bear in mind, immashift, that without any atmosphere you will not slow down by the tiniest bit - that means you will be going hella fast when you touch the ground. Unless the Moon is perfectly flat - even the tiniest bump _will_ mean death for you. In other words, your plane needs some kind of engine under its belly to keep your distance from the ground until you slowed down far enough.
  2. Squad made it very clear whats in the update and what is not - like all the updates before. If youre hyped then its entirely your own matter I would say. I dont see any trouble with being somewhat anxious over a new update anyways, really. Why would you think they postpone the release out of pure marketing-reasons. What reasons did squad give you to think that? And what good would that really do, marketing wise? If squad aimed for a huge hype, why did they release a half-an-hour-video showing precisely whats new with .21 and what not? Why do they openly discuss features around the forum? It wouldnt make any sense. I dont know. Are you new? Like I said, this update is exactly like the others before. Maybe even a bit less than those. I started with 0.8. Imagine updates adding different engines and fueltanks where there had previously been only one. Imagine Updates containing Plane-parts and a brand new runway where there had previously only been C7 Wings. Kethane. Mechjeb. The Mun with 0.12 like you just said. Why are you afraid of KSP being hyped when it had far bigger updates before? (Not that I see any signs of a hype)
  3. What would happen ... Id say Sales drop down to a third and piracy increases.
  4. youre still somewhat new to KSP, arent you? The wait for .21 is no different from other releases. And I dont see no hype. People looking forward to the newest version is not automatically a hype. But even so - you cant really compare KSP to Sim City 5 or Diablo 3 for ... just so many reasons I dont even know where to begin. And you talking the game down with predictions you have no knowledge of is just rude.
  5. Even though some frown upon it - you could use MechJeb to help you with SmartASS. If you keep the Prograde-option enabled you just need to activate the engines at the right time to use the oberth-effect as effective as possible.
  6. well, i guess 110 tons is just too heavy. Up to the height in the second picture the atmosphere was dense enough for the rudders to keep your ascent under control - but at around this point it becomes too thin for the controlflaps to do anything so the heavy nose topples over. Thats my guess. Also - Ive never used FAR, but I hear its a little buggy sometimes. Drag at the tip of your rocket (Fairings not being counted by FAR + high-drag payload) might still be the answer, too. That reminds me - I think you locked the Gimbal on the outer engines, no?
  7. This reads as if the AP keeps rising after you already cut the engines? If so this would be a bug. Ive never heard of something like this, though, so my guess is you just kept firing your engines too long before coasting. Bear in mind that if youre in an elliptical orbit and youre firing at its Periapsis - the Apoapsis far off can rise pretty quickly. Thats a good method to accumulate Escape-velocity through several orbi
  8. Indeed. More Struts. Also - it can happen from time to time that a tank with an engine attached to it will start to oscillate around - fix it to the next upper tank with about 3 struts. Kind of like sewing them together. With that the connection link between both tanks becomes rigid.
  9. How exactly did you do the hinges? I dont want to download Damned Robotics for one part, but i could really use a freely turning connection for trailers and the likes.
  10. What are you talking about? This is genuine 80ies style. Slap some chrome on it and youre grand :'D
  11. Hey, personally I dont mind having to place a part to enable the balancer - you know - KSP actually lacks reasons to plant scientific parts.
  12. while i support the idea of such a pack - i think youre overfilling it for an "essentials"-pack. Why not have more than one pack where you bundle similar mods? I for myself would say essentials are: Mechjeb, Kethane, B9, And thats it. Other Packs could include Structural parts. Such a bundle could include KW rocketry, AIES, Deep Mission Pack, and KSPX of course Others could enhance the game with functionality - those could be the Ion-hybrid-engines-pack and HooliganLabs' Airships.
  13. Geosynchronous orbits at Kerbin? I thougt a deployed station or satellite would fall into moons SoI eventually?
  14. I placed sandbags. Theres a flood in germany. There was no time for KSP because of this
  15. I had to redownload my KSP when i broke it a few days ago - and with it my savegames. Well - I started with the KethaneSatellites again: The original Design didnt have feet and chemical Engines, but 4 Iondrives - but I thougt it might be funny if they could actually land on low-gravity-planets. Landing has yet to be tested, though. I made them so that they have dockingports on their roof and bottom, so you could stack them in orbit to ship them off to anywhere with a Tugship - unfortunately - they tend to get all wobbly an create phantomforces ... probably because of the legs sticking over the Docking port
  16. no i have not. yet. I was afraid it would hijack my controls and restrict me on controlling everything with the mouse. If you say its just a click - ill give it a shot
  17. Is there a youtubevideo showing how its used, maybe? Im wondering if i can switch it on and off again at will. Id mostly prefer to keep my button-controls, but when landing, hovering or especially doing transports with a skycrane this could be a charm.
  18. This became one of the few all-time-mods I re-use every time I download a new Version of KSP. A really handy too. The new model isnt really that astonishing, though. I liked it better when it used the Stock-model. A mere #000000-box isnt that appealing on a craft.
  19. w00t! B9 got an update! : D Yes I know Im late. Bac9, youre massive! Not physically, but, you know...
  20. I imagine youre using the turbine, which is made for atmospheres... no oxigen, no thrust.
  21. I remember a changelog from way back that said muns maximum mountain-height was raised from 2000 to 4000 metres. As far as I know this hasnt been changed since then.
  22. I just noticed - to all looking for a solution to get their Powerpanels working again, after the 0.17-update: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/13692-Mechanical-Mouse-Industries-Kethane-Payload-Packs-Released%21%21%21?p=271183&viewfull=1#post271183 the bold text under "known issues" on page 1 only refers to panels not working at all. Just bringing this up again for others in trouble, so they can find the fix more easily.
