By which you mean IROC, the International Race Of Champions, where the top drivers race in identical cars... As to the OP, yeah, massive conspiracies simply don't hold water. No way a cover-up of that size could last that long.

You know you played KSP too long when...

That is awesome, but it makes me think: How long until some genius figures away to turn keyboard keys into tiny LED/LCD screens, or some other way to change the appearance of the key to reflect what function it will perform in a given program. One application would be to make it look like that picture, another would change the label on each key when, say, ctrl is pressed. Every game or app could change the keys to show its function. I know this could be done by turning the keyboard in to a big touchscreen, but some people like to touch-type, while others like the tactile feedback of pressing a key. I know some modern touchscreens can guve tactile feedback... -

Not necessarily. On the surface, yes, but an overloaded tire will buckle in the middle (see "underinflated tire tread wear"), reducing the effective contact area. Increased downforce can also be hard on the tire (unless planned for like race cars) and can lead to tire (belt) separation and failure "down the road." Remember, it's not the actual friction that 'breaks' during a skid, but the rubber's shear strength (contact area is not a part of the friction equation, and if the rubber didn't shear it wouldn't leave black marks on the road), so contact area is important. A large part of downforce generated on race cars is simply to counter the lift generated by the shape of the car. Someone would have to do the math, but I think rocket thrust would be more effective as direct retro-thrust than increasing downforce. -

Automotive brakes are ultimately limited by how strong the tires can grip the road. Rocket brakes would have no such limitation and would augment wheel brakes. Bonus: If about to rear-end a car, cold-gas thrusters would push the stooped car a little further ahead. Not much, but still -
For that matter, how long did it take to get from, say, New York to LA before the steam train was invented?
-
Although I’m not sure what the point of vertically oriented spacecraft is. It seems to me it would be difficult to keep upright when landed, especially on an uneven surface or windy conditions. Sure, tech can overcome that, but what about in a total power failure?

At least he didn’t put it in the closet, or you’d have to deal with “come out of the closet” jokes

Something NASA should look at doing is helping industry set up a production line for ECLSS systems, ideally modular and involving plants, for all the groups developing manned vehicles. After all, I can’t quite see SpaceX coming up with all the equipment to outfit the inside of its BFS itself

Fixed that for you... (just a quick hack job, I gotta go to bed. Someone can feel free to make a better version and/or tweet it at Mr Musk). -

Along with LV-N missions, I’ve found drop tanks to be quite useful for Tylo landings, although a crasher stage can be used instead.

Sorry, @GoSlash27, but I had to. Truer words were never spoken!

Well, math was pretty easy for me, and early calculus made sense, but my attention and effort was elsewhere when the calculus got serious. (Social) Life happened (and before that I had no life). But yeah, I agree some people just don't grok math
-
I learned that one on an old episode (original series, with Jack Klugman) of The Odd Couple.

Well, if you think science is fun (and it is) bear in mind that the farther you go in science, the more math-based it becomes, especially if you head in an applied-science direction like engineering. Once you figure out what you’re supposed to do, math becomes easy. Until you reach calculus, which is where I crashed and burned. Possibly because my fuel became too contaminated with beer to power my brain properly. Watch out for that.

I haven't bothered with ISRU in the Kerbin SOI, but I often find myself launching tankers to refuel interplanetary missions (transfer stage gets used reach/circularize orbit) that I don't completely drain. It may be worthwhile to have a docking hub on your station that can dock two tankers, transferring props to one before de-orbiting empties (have a small ullage tank somewhere on the tanker or station to precisely measure the small amount of props needed for a destructive de-orbit). You don't even need a large amount of propellant storage on the station itself. It's worth noting that my transfer stages can also function as stand-alone tugs or small tankers, to use up residual propellants. Don't forget the antenna (usually a pair of the small fold-out ones)!

Well, now, I feel like an idiot, I never thought of that. Here I was on an airliner yesterday enjoying some quality KSP time on my HP laptop, but I couldn't detach anything when I needed to. It never occurred to to me that I needed to dig out my mouse and find room to use it. Of course, now that I'm home, I was able to do what I needed to do (attach Lizdun's debris to my rescue ship for a rescue/recover contract)

Late launch, used booster, no recovery of any kind... as unremarked as most launches these days. Lotsa crickets in this thread too... -
I got back from Mexico Last night, so here's my best pics, taken with mostly with Canons First, flying over the waters near Cancun certainly looks tempting: (iPhone) The locals had a party basking between the pool and the beach... Although some were shy... One of our favorite sights in that 30C+, 100% humidity climate... I think the dolphin may have found some sand fleas in my beard... (pic taken by one of the pros at the Dolphinaris)... Last night there: One tequila, two tequila, threee tequila, floor! One last (Tequila) Sunrise, and we were on our way home... (iPhone)

I know I've posted a very similar meme as this one previously, but this is a new and improved version re-mastered with Paint3D...

I've found the best way to get rep is post well-thought-out posts, along with funny memes/cartoons/references where appropriate. I've created a number of my own memes and posted them here, and reposted them where appropriate (such as posting this in Eve ascent threads)
