I enjoyed it too, but when my son asked what my favorite part was, I couldn't come up with one. The train job, I suppose. But I was glad to see a few parts of the canon included and not overwritten: Granted, it varied from what was written in the Expanded Universe novels (especially the Maw), but that's to be expected My understanding was that the leaders of the various resistance groups (Bel Iblis, Mon Mothma, Ackbar, to name a few) got together and hammered out an alliance. Where they got the ships from (starfighters and capital ships) is a good question, because why didn't the Empire smash those factories flat before the Rebellion could put up a fight?

Capture Craft Needed.

For my most recent "recover hardware" mission, I used KAS/KIS to attach a docking port, then docked to it normally... Could even add a probe core/RW/Battery to get control of it if you wanted -
Any veteran tips for the docking inept?

And you know, it's entirely possible some glitch was building up as the game was running. Restarting the game (and sometimes rebooting the PC) is sometimes what you need to do to make things work right again. -

Have you tried turning off RCS just before the magnets kick in? The RCS might be fighting the pull. And be sure to hit CapsLock so the RCS doesn’t kick as hard; it also balances RCS if it’s not too unbalanced -

Today was my last day of work before leaving for Cancun on Saturday, so I was like this to my carpool buddy... Now I be like... -
Yes, I'm aware of the hazards of warm air hitting cold electronics. My basic procedure is to keep the PC making heat while removing it from the cold air, so that it warms up quickly and prevents and/or quickly dries out condensation. Thing is, with the machine running hot, it's more a matter of keeping it cooler than having it chilled. But yeah, there is the issue that only one side of the machine gets hot to begin with...

Yeah, we're an iFamily. Had an android, but it didn''t impress. Family has 5s's and SE's right now, with no real complaint except the batteries seem to degrade quickly, but they probably get cooked from over-use and cases that insulate too much. I think the major advantage with kids is that it's hard to get a dangerous app "by accident." Of course, my teenage son keeps wanting to jailbreak his phone, and I have to keep reminding him that that's a good way to end up with a brick. As for cost, well, we just go with what we can get for no extra cost with our overpriced Rogers Wireless plan. Also, a local cellphone repair place has used (business return) iphones for $200

- samsung vs apple
- is samsung better than apple?

I thought modern computers had heat sensors and should throttle down, or even shut down, when overheating to prevent damage. Nonetheless, extended time at high temperatures can eventually cause something to fail. It can be something as simple as cracked solder or a failed capacitor

Maybe confirm Merlin can still run non-densified propellants? -

Ok, so no landing attempt. I suppose they’d want to give all available dV to the payload, so little to no entry data acquisition either. Are they at least going to try to catch the fairing? -
Yes, dust buildup is the first thing I check when I get throttled. On the flip side, sticking a laptop on top of an air conditioning vent during those Whackjobian launches works wonders. One of these days I’m going to build a little laptop desk connected to the AC vent.

Going to Tulum (Cancun), Mexico on Saturday' my first Mexican vacation. Wait, what, WestJet pilots are in position to give 72 hours strike notice at any time?

Must be a good feeling to be finally catching up on that packed manifest -
I’m playing a bit more now that MH and 1.4.3 is out, but find myself limited by (besides work) family life (including chores) and posting on these forums. Sleep is a major time hog too

Yes, I was thinking of both actually

Not quite what I had in mind...think lampposts. The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe Movie about a bunch of blue persons living in homes made from vegetation

As long as your temps don't redline, I don't think it's a bad thing. I could cook an egg on my laptop during a WhackJob-class launch. Mind you, if your PC does redline, it'll throttle back and performance goes down the drain.

Yeah, but that lists a Pentium 4 or AMD64X2, which are old CPU's. I would think an early generation i3 or even a Core2Duo would trash one of those in mega(giga?tera?)flops. Also bear in mind, that while my laptop has a 3rd gen i7 listed at 2.4GHz, it often turbo's up over 3.1GHz as needed (like when playing games)

Got your volunteer right here... Er, wait, that's the wrong R2. I meant Robonaut 2: -

Gah! That's the sort of neuroflatulence I get for posting when I should be asleep. Absolutely, I meant to say [CapsLock] for fine control. But hey, that key is right below what I said. Fixed... -
Any veteran tips for the docking inept?
StrandedonEarth replied to djr5899's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Pro tip: Since it's hard to perfectly balance RCS, especially when the CoM moves as fuel is burned, you can press CAPSLOCK for 'fine control.' This reduces RCS thrust and seems to balance it, as long as it's not wildly unbalanced. Also, it is easier to control a smaller ship and takes less propellants to maneuver it. So dock with the smallest ship, unless impractical for some reason I'm a fan of the NavBall-DAL mentioned above, as it doesn't take anymore screen space. The only downside to that is the marker disappears if' your closing velocity is zero, so it's hard to tell which way you're drifting (NF-DAL will tell you in that instance. So the trick is,to keep closing. At about 90-100m, get your closing velocity close to zero (say, 0.5m/s or so, or whatever you're comfortable with), then select the desired docking port as target. Switching ships back and forth with [ and ] can make this easier. Switch to target ship and rt-click the docking port you want, select control from here, and point it (if you're not trying to dock with a massive unwieldy station) at the approaching ship while leaving the Part Action Window open; then switch back to the approaching craft, and you can select 'set as target' in the PAW you just opened. Now, the only thing you really need to look at from this point on is the Navball. Point your approaching craft at the red circle that just appeared in the navball, and "herd" the target marker to the red circle with the marker, as shown in the handy-dandy graphic below. Slow as needed when you get closer; I usually make contact between 0.1-0.3 m/s -
True, true. A good reason to quicksave often. "Dated Quicksave" (one of Magico's modlets) helps with that. KAC sometimes makes a "JumptoShip" save, but I've never figured out exactly when that's triggered. Use Alt-F9 to load a specific quicksave, and Alt-F5 (don't press Alt-F4 by mistake or KSP will quit!) to make a named quicksave
