Soooooooooooo much this. Fishing off the company dock is a baaaad idea. One couple at work seemed to be having a disagreement, because she was paging him all day long. That turned out to be their last day at that company

Kerbal Space Program 1.4.3 and Making History 1.2 is live!
StrandedonEarth replied to UomoCapra's topic in 2018
Ok, so I don't see a link for the patch, but the link for the full install seems to work. Can you use that and then copy your saves over? -

Why yes, I think it does.... It would be great of some cartoonist could make a satirized showdown between the Musk the Gunslinger and the Bezos the Azure King... -
Thinking of picking the game up, how is it?
StrandedonEarth replied to Soapstone's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Oh for... I am a non-steam user! Must have been having some neuroflatulence. Or I was fat-fingered. Thanks for the fix! -

The Guardians guarded the portals, not the actual beams. So it would guard the Portal of the Dragon, Way of the Falcon All things serve the Beam. And the Beam serves Elon Musk. And after a F9B5 (or a BFR) has landed a few times, it'll resemble a Dark Tower... -
If you think Jool is bad, consider how much you can get done while your Eeloo mission is underway...

Weird, I only have to tap it twice on mobile. On PC, I get the black half-circle on mouseover, and then click once to register the like...

Thinking of picking the game up, how is it?
StrandedonEarth replied to Soapstone's topic in KSP1 Discussion
A common mantra here is "It's hard to tell what's going wrong without screenshots..." (F-12 to take a screenshot, host on Imgur.com...). As others have said, pointy at the front, fins at the back, SAS on ('T' key, probably don't need fins if the engine has gimbal) all help stability. Confused yet? But wait, there's more! If you right-click a fuel tank, there's something called "priority" Higher priority tanks drain first. Rockets are more stable if the center of mass (CoM) is farther forward. Setting the bottom tanks to drain first can help the rocket from becoming unstable later in flight. Welcome to Kerbal; it's not just a game, it's a way of life! If it interests you (no, I haven't cracked a spreadsheet with this game) then this game offers by far the best bang (hours played, or literally bang) for your buck! So many ways to play, like if you want planes instead of rockets. Or just plain messing around (see the "Destroy KSC: Highway to Hell" video linked in my signature) -

Meh. More meaningless statistics...

Maybe the smear is actually being done by BO to discredit them both
-
The pilot’s response to that very question was “What makes you think it’s perfectly good?” We were fighting over who would jump first after that... Have you seen some of these skydiving school planes?
-
Ok, so... This angle.... that distance... So that means... now if I... Gotta... Just have to... Uh huh... uh huh... and then... steady... load the hind legs just so... aim... here goes.... !!!... Whoops, forgot to carry the one....
-
I don't think they will really care much if you do as a once-in-a-lifetime thrill. Just like life insurance doesn't care if you go skydiving once, the increased risk to them is incremental. But if you're a professional skydiver / rocketeer, that's a substantial increase in risk.

My wife started digging through a box of pictures today, and dug up some old ones. I guess my collection of old pictures got tossed in with hers, and maybe some my mom dumped on me. I found some old gems that I hadn't seen in for-ev-er. This is one of my favorites, from back in '91 I think. My one and only jump... I was the last one out of the plane, so I got the best pic because the instructor held the camera.

Maybe they should just use airbags. Oh right, more labour to repack instead of just reloading or recharging landing rockets.

How does three-phase electricity works?
StrandedonEarth replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
As I understand it, the problem with residential high-voltage DC is a safety issue. Electric shock contracts muscles. With single-phase AC, there's that moment of zero current, which gives the shockee a chance to let go. A DC system doesn't give that chance, you're stuck to the wire until the power is cut off. I suppose having a ground-fault-interrupt breaker can mitigate that, but getting caught between both legs of the circuit without passing enough current to trip a breaker would still be a problem. But i don't see any reason why modern houses couldn't be wired with 5-12VDC for LED lighting and USB power/charging outlets. -
Oh, awesome, this is working fine under 1.4.3. I finally updated to 1.4.x and bought MH, and then noticed i hadn't gotten this yet. I just couldn't dock my shiny new 5m tanker to my Jool Station waiting to leave LKO after multiple attempts! Installed this and easily got it in one. Thanks again, LGG! Now to go find "All Y'All"

I hold my breath for as long as i can, always works for me. That also forces the diaphragm to reboot.

The only red AI I remember seeing anywhere would be HAL in 2001 ... Or by red do you mean Russian? (Yes, I'm being pedantic. I've been seeing "rouge" instead of "rogue" far too often on these forums lately. Rouge is the french word for red, and seeing it in place of rogue has me seeing red !) Not sure what AI has to do with SLS payloads, except maybe that HAL could have done a better job of designing the SLS... Or are we talking about AI-controlled prospecting/mining probes launched on SLS?
-
Ok, a little Google told me he wasn't really a king. But you know what happens to unpopular kings...

Yay, we got more parts with 1.4.x and MH! But what is still glaringly missing is an adapter tank in the 3.75m-to-2.5m size (probably already mentioned in this old thread). If we want an adapter in that size that actually holds propellants, we have to use a 3.75m-to-Mk3 tank attached to a Mk3-to-2.5m tank. @JPLRepo, can we please get a 3.75m-to-2.5m tank added to the game pleeeease? Pretty please, with sugar on top?
-
Going from, say, a 2.5m fairing down to a 1.5m tank. From what you just said, it would be better to have the adapter in there rather than a straight step... Like so:
