Yesterday I made a rover that can hook to the underside of the Seagull lander, and (hopefully) detach once on the surface. It has room for 2 Kerbals on it and has a goo can, Gravioli scanner, temp guage, and a seismometer to travel to a second biome after landing. I am debating putting a materials bay on it as well as of right now it tucks nicely into the launch craft. In the pic the probe body was only added to get it onto the launch pad, and is not actually part of the design. I know there are other rovers out there that look more "realistic", but I prefer functional over fashionable, plus the real lunar rover was really Kerbal-esk when you look at. I may change out the wheels on it later, but for now it is still in the testing phase. I may also use this in my oral communications class for our demonstration speech that I have to; "How to Get to the Moon" or something. Ah college level learning made easy with KSP!

Back to Minmus for more of the delicious science. With the forth coming patch this series will end, and in its place will be the beginnings of the Better than starting manned series with many rules in place onto the series as well.

Today I took the Seagull up in the start of my Ker-Ploopo mission I want to test. Here is Ker-Ploopo after detaching and reattaching in mid orbit. I wanted to see if it I could get them reattached before I hit my highest point, and I did successfully. Here you can see the remainder of the launch stage (Yes I like the new shiny bits, but I am having fun). This would deorbit itself limiting the space junk. Lastly the orbiter detaching the Seagull for its return home, I have yet to do the Mun mission with this setup but I feel it should be a go. I made a few modifications to the Seagull and the orbiter, mainly getting rid of the big round batteries in favor of the square ones for some weight saving. I also got rid of the areo spike as I forgotten that you cannot attach a decoupler under it, so in it's place are a pair of the white radial engine (I forget their name). These engines are only meant for the lift off of the surface of Mun/more place I am visiting. Another idea I have is to attach a 2 man rover to the bottom of the Seagull that will be left behind once the mission has been successfully done, although I am not sure how tall it can be due to the landing legs I am using in this configuration.

Drugs are bad Mmmmkay.

Last night I started working on an Apollo styled lander, for what purpose I do not know yet. It as been dubbed the KSA Seagull, since it was the eagle that landed on the moon I wanted to keep with a bird theme. The outer engines are for the landing stage and the areospike is to go back and meet with the payload ship. My original thought was to maybe use this as a Laythe lander, but I am still working out the kinks in it.

This was brought up a while ago on Scott Manley's youtube channel. It would take so much time, fuel, and parts to move one that it would not be possible; even if it were not on rails to being with. Here you go.

I did not do much today, however I made a new flag for my BTSM play through I will be doing. Yes it was a slow day but it was May he 4th.

Give me your favorite KSP ship names you've come up with?
Liowen replied to The Yellow Dart's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yeah I seen one someone else, though I forgot the acronym now, and suddenly found I was doing myself. I have a few others I am working on, though some of the letters are hard to come up with. -

So far 2 came to mind: The KSA A.R.S.E. (Asteroid, Research, Science, Explorer). The KSA D.E.R.P. (Deep, Exploration, Return, Pod) And maybe in the not to distant future, late sometime AD, I will make the Satellite of Love (points if you get it ) -
Finally a good view of my terrible docking skills, but at least I CAN dock now. Also the Kebals now have a voice!

A duh moment I had after undocking my lander from the science lab 2 days ago was that if you burn retrograde with the lab in front of you it will pass you, very closely if you are not paying attention. I think I had a couple of meter between the two, but had I not rotated the craft to level out the horizon I would have ripped solar panels off or worse. Lucky for me I got it on video as it was part of my career mode series I am doing.

If mine refuse I would say it it was part of a "safe rocket act" and signing up was mandatory, but if you did not sign up you would "penalized" by having to be the test subjects for experimental rockets. Those that partake in this reform act could choose, based on the level of their stupid, what kind of proven rocket they could operate, although there is no guaranty that these rockets are safe or able to complete their mission they are just an approved list of rockets. Kerbals have the right to chose; either they go into to space or they may go into space. Yet there are those who slip through the cracks as well who, due to circumstances beyond their control, have to use the experimental rocket against their wishes......although we are trying hard to make sure no one notices.

I lost 30 + on a fun Lunar Tour Bus mission, so I made thing one of my video. It originally had taps playing, but of course youtube didn't like that at all. So now the episode has the obituary roll with no music, to me it was a bit silly to make without the music. I have since found a version of taps that is royalty free that I can use in the future.

No no you have carefully planned simulations to see what may happen if you did X, Y, or Q
-
How do you know those Kerbals that did not deserved to die, maybe they were a murdering psychopathic killer. I mean look at Jeb he is always smiling and laughing, no sane Kerbal would do that if things were exploding around them. As to if I kill off Kerbals intentionally, no I do not......yet.

Contracts and the expansion of career mode.
Liowen replied to Travisfv's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I have long thought that the contract system will have a set amount of money you could earn, but your parts cost for the craft will be subtracted at the end (IE you could get 1 million kerbucks but if your craft cost 500k kerbucks you only get the remaining 500k kerbucks). This will mean you could run the risk of doing a mission that could cost you money from your own pocket, like using all the new big parts to launch a small Mun lander would be most likely a bad thing. However there could be "bonus" monetary reward if you do more than the required contract such as; your contract is to do a low orbit of Mun, but you landed and returned a surface sample so bonuses for both the landing and sample (but not as much as the contract to do those things). As far as the sandbox game I do not think they will be in that mode, and I also believe they have stated that contracts will be an option for the player to do even in career mode (also not sure if you can do them as you wish or once you start they are part of the save and have to done from that point forward). *WARNING* *kerbuck is not the name for the currency in the game just one used for the example* -
During a reentry of the Lunar Tour Bus, some happy, but a lot of these 'oh crap" looks as well.

Hey it is true, not sure why but it just clicked something in my 3lbs noodle to get how to dock (although I am far from pro as noted by todays near miss LOL) As for the picture this is the first thought in my head: OOOOH THE CLAW
-
5th Horseman did a thing on how to grab and asteroid, and while it is a bit different than docking it did help me finally get it right. Keep practicing you will get it in time, best advice I can give as I do not know how I just started getting as of now to be honest (but that video helped me to know what goes where type thing).

Oddly enough I hit the space bar again and it fixed itself, but it was funny to watch it trail behind me without snapping. Something exploded when I staged, though the next flight all was well and I was laughing to much to F3 to look and see what the issue was.
-
I was using my reusable science lander, that I forgot to refuel before going back to the surface, and almost collided with the science lab it was formerly docked to. I did catch this on video and had a good chuckle at my near miss, or near hit depending on you look at it.

Episode 20, return to Minmus but this time I am at the south pole. A few more of these and I will be ready to go somewhere special.....stay tuned!!!

Man these struts are amazing!! They stretched 17.5km all because my decoupler didn't decouple LOL. I was in the process of testing out the KSA D.E.R.P (Dres Exploration Recovery Pod) MKI and had this weird thing happen, and no I did not have the debug cheats on it actually strung itself out like this LOL.

I am trying to get ahead on videos of my career mode, I hope to be able to get 2 more videos done this week. This way I can download and try the Better than Manned idea out for a future series.
