Why are flags considered "flights"?

It's not about the semantic use of the word "flights" for things that aren't flying (I mean, you do fly a flag, afterall) but more about the fact that once a flag is up, you're never going to do anything with it again, so why act like it's some active thing? I like to keep my active flights from cluttering up by turning useless things into debris when I'm done with it. This way, when I load up a save and it says "10 flights in progress" that means there are 10 things I'm currently paying attention to/working on. I don't want it saying "50 flights in progress" because I planted a bunch of flags everywhere.

This sums up my thoughts exactly and is why I opened up this thread. Is this a game breaking thing that I think Squad should drop everything to fix? No. It is a niggling little detail that bothers someone as OCD as me. :) And apparently others too, which makes me feel less alone in this world. *sigh*

Can flags be set as debris in the tracking center selection UI thingy? If possible, you could do the same thing. I feel like it is not, or someone would have pointed it out. I'd check it out real quick, but KSP is not at hand.

I'm sure, handling flags sub-type like debris sub-type (but not AS debris) should solve this issue. It's quite stupid to have one mission planting 10 flags and ends with 10 missions after return.

Further more, I'm quite unhappy with the aftermath of a mission. Everything is basically unloaded. Only Science points, Credits and reputations. Ther whould be links to planted flag, returned science and contracts. There is no "MISSION" entity in the game. Only vessels.

This deserves its own discussion (and probably has one already). Tracking what the player has done over the course of their persistent save would be really neat. A simple timeline of notable events: flags planted, contracts completed/failed (with amounts of funds/rep/science earned/lost), kerbals killed in action, SOI transitions, landings and crash-landings; would be great.

This thread is quite old. Please consider starting a new thread rather than reviving this one.
