Kerbal Kountdown!!!!

Seriously though, could someone look at the coordinates?

Do I have to do everything?*

Those coordinates on Eve are roughly 20N, 20E. KSP renders icons through planets, though, so it COULD be somewhere around 30N, 110W which is (within the error inherent in guesstimating on a tiny globe) close enough to 31.01°N 291.64°E if you mark E/W and don't count E all the way up to 360.

But there's no way to know for sure and that seems a mean way to do it. Maybe they did the whole thing, planning for that, and then realized it was on the dark side of the planet :D

*Note: I have not done everything, or much of anything.

Well, there's Envision health care.

Also, there is no info button on the middle right side of that tracking station.

Are we going to get better water? Mares makes scuba equipment, and mare is latin for ocean.

The titan mare explorer's backup target is the Kraken mare. See also here.

I noticed this too. Can anyone confirm if .90 sandbox does not have those buttons? May be a career only thing.

While the Pioneer 8 one might be it, it seems a little too obvious at first glance.

Heres a few they might show tomorrow:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/STS-8 (aka Challenger, not the flight that exploded though)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollo_8

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gemini_8 First docking of two spacecraft.

Still editing.

Gemini 8, first docking.

ETA: lol we're probably going to ruin it for them. Also ninja.

It exists in Sandbox. I had wondered if they had finally moved it to the toolbar (where it should be now that a toolbar exists) but we can see that too.

Part of me wonders if they didn't move it to the toolbar for map mode in flight, and because of shared code, inadvertently removed it from the tracking station. The last DevNotes mentions some changes to it.

I'm still confused about the 8.5 thing. Why 8.5? What more is there to see in this picture?

8 and a half clues. Clearly they have something in there that they consider a "sort-of" clue. Perhaps one that's coincidental or one that's botched?

We should be able to find 8 or 9 things in this pic that point to Venera 9.

Best,

Well, the orbit is sortof like that of the orbiter, maybe that's the 0.5?

Just speculating, but it seems to me that if we can find 9 things that point to Venera 9, then one of them would be a coincidence. If, OTOH, there are 8 things that point to Venera 9, then there's something else in there that was supposed to be a clue but didn't work out.

I would guess it would be the latter, since 9 clues would reinforce the conclusion.

This is some Iluminati CSI crossover right here.

Both vessels were edited in via save editing trickery, that's for sure.

E: I've been staring into That picture for way too long. I'll let you guys do the work and figure out what secrets it holds, because I am completely clueless.

We already figured it out, a couple pages ago.

I wonder if tomorrow's countdown will be even more obscure. I tried using google before I found out about the Venera 9 mission. I was able to learn about EnVision, but I have no idea how some of you picked out that one. At this rate, SQUAD will have us all in tin foil hats by Tuesday (6 day clue).

What i'm wondering is are these "clues*" supposedly leading to some big clue(s) about 1.0, or is it a countdown of days to launch, or is it just a countdown with an unrelated puzzle each day that just happens to coincide with the countdown.

*Clues refers to for example Venera 9, Venus, Apollo, etc... perhaps somehow having something to do with a new feature or something.

For anyone out of the loop (like me) this comment on reddit provides a pretty good summary

So the Soviets had a couple of missions (Venera 9/10) that were compiled of an orbiter and a lander, only missions to Venus of that kind. AND Venera 9's model number was 4V.1 No.660, same as the timer (6 days 6 hours 0 seonds). Total Venera 9 mission duration: 200 days. MA I'M SUCCESSFUL. Uhm.. Last thing I can find for now is that the Venera 9 lander module was functional for 53 minutes (Envision MET mind you, the lander)

Bonus!! : The famous Cassini Huygens flew by Venus on April 26th 1998. If the countdown is true, the release date is on the 26th +/-

Oh! and "Mares Envision" in an anagram of "Venera Mission"
