I think some of the rewards for contracts don't measure to the difficulty

You do not have to *complete* the suborbital flight, if that matters....

But yeah, who wants to even aim their trajectory at the sun for a moment? The burn would be stupid long, and good luck returning once you do..... Now I want to try it.

Just thinking of the dV required to make a suborbital trajectory to the Sun and then return makes my head hurt. Considering this is only early-mid game Career mode for me at the moment, that one just seems out of place. That's some master level stuff right there. All the other itineraries aren't all that bad and more in line with what I can do currently heh.

I do think that there need to be some kind of table that says that certain missions need to have a bigger reward than the same mission somewhere else, and not just a generic "missions on/around planet X reward Y times as much as they do around Kerbin."

One of the Twitch streamers today got "Mine ore on Eve, deliver the ore to Gilly." Yeah, there are contracts that you need to just say no to, but they should all be at least a little tempting. If it had been "Mine ore on Duna, deliver the ore to Ike" then it would have been so much easier. But an "Explore Eve" contract isn't that much harder than an "Explore Duna" contract, so you can't do it like science where each planet just has a multiplier.

Doesn't a flyby just mean get into its SoI? That's pretty easy to do. It is the suborbital flight on the sun contracts that are insane, but even then mostly due to the Delta-v requirements.

Now if they had land on the sun, that would be a death wish.

Just don't take the contract.

Actually, some of the contracts that I have to deal with in real life has that same fault, basically it's somwtimes like 'do the impossible for 10 cents'.

I honestly think that's one of the best things about the contract system. Just like IRL, sometimes someone will try to screw you over. You have to be on the lookout for that. They're contracts and not missions for a reason.

/\/\/\This!

All aboard the SS "Logan's Run"?

Take the money for completing the itinerary of the others, strap the Sol worshipers to some obsolete hardware and wish them 'bon voyage'. If questioned about the morality, claim that "The customer is always right"

You had probably better have some rep in hand and a good PR department on standby though...

Agreed. I avoid anything dealing with sub-orbit of the Sun or any tourist contracts beyond Kerbin SOI. Just so I don't have to worry about when I return them. Then again. You can use those maybe for crew training as a way to cut down on mission expense maybe?

In KSP, as in real life, 'always read the small print.'

Now, I really must be away to test that Mainsail on the mun... (doh!)

I actually had the same contract. To test an engine you don't have to provide fuel for it. I simply loaded it as a payload and 'tested' it (thought it never actually fired the contract was complete).

Or have the thrust set above 0% ;) Been there, took the cash. Kerching!

Only problem with the current contract is getting the blessed thing into place for the test, given my other cargo and PAX commitments.
