How did I miss this video on the thread??

First off, that landing was amazing!

I dream of landing like that.

How did you set targeting the runway on the navball?

Is that as simple as clicking the runway and "set as target"?

(I've never been landing close enough to try is why I ask)

Secondly, I watched that video 3 times in full screen on a 52" screen.

It gave me goose bumps ;)

EDIT: I vote to stick this video on page 1!

No the HUD is useless in the current model. You have to aim the down part of the HUD at where you want to go. But the good news is: I am redoing the cockpit with a more accurate HUD. Its almost done!

Although it's a nitpick but it's kinda bigger than say a pink ring. Could you make the parachutes come out under the tail not the top of the tail?

Yes I just slammed a radial parachute to the tail. Mike is working on an accurate model.

We need more testers!

got the external tank connector extended to reach shuttle

also with the change from 2200 monoprop to 1600 in the rear and the addition of 200 in the nose for the generator (should change to something else with realfules, or could just use zenon for now) the weight will be off so will need a new aero adjust

Ok, after deinstalling DRE and FAR i admit it flies pretty well now. THe parachute doesnt show up, though. Landing is pretty easy, but its not that easy to predict the right reentry point, i am still underestimating the drag/float profile of this thing...gotta practice then :D

i think it flies ok, I only had one quick fly though...

with the generator, if its off it will use up half of your total electricity deorbiting due to using flaps etc.

also I made the cargobay doors smooth animation, so they open slow at start etc. one opens first then the other...

I now need to compile it all tomorrow when I have more time.

will come with see through cockpit and fixed tank

and the chute tail and all bits...

Also oms fuel is now at 1800 and for now im using xenon gas for the generator just to keep it stock. And so you dont need an extra mod.

Also fuel dump valve is a mini oms engine in between the main engines. Has 1 thrust and consumes ALOT of that monoprop. Adds onto the extra node there. Not realistic I know but it mat be useful.

Plan is to make the fuel system realistic. .. in time

Excellent work! You are doing rather swell, can't wait to try it out!

Addon:

The space shuttle's fuel cells had a maximum load of 7 kilowatts and each weighed about 200 pounds.

woah woah woah lets take a step back here! Jovzin youre model is too beautiful to just scrap. Maybe the changes that Mike has made can be applied to yours. Instead of have having Dragon do the cfg for it why not just let Mike do it. I know I am being presumptuous mike but have you seen Jovzins model? Its beautiful. The imbedded rcs, the radiators on the cargo doors, the landing gear, the toggleable et ports. You guys just need to work together. I and many other people have been saying for weeks now that the both of you should work together. So for goodness sake please PM each other and work together on the orbiter. It will be great for the community.

Yes I have seen it and can do the scripted events for the flaps or whatever.

But until then I shal keep working in the meantime

Jovzin 's model is an amazing one. Surely there is a way to combine the changes that Mike has made with that model. The current CSS model is in dire need of an update and it would be a real big shame if Jovzin's model was scrapped.

Ive only seen the gifs on the origional forum page. Although it looks like the same textures (ready made one on google searc that even mine uses) it does have good animations but I guess the 3d model is different shape?. It will be tricky to get the animations to play right as ksp does not allow delays in animations by default and plays all at once from the same action. For example cargobay doors will open together. I manages to work around that. Also the dish he has may need to be a seperate item and use a comunitron cfg or similar. And the eva and ET flaps will need to be controlled manually or by action group.

Jovzin, I have unity import export experience and cfg creation I can get it to work in game and send it back to you then we can talk?

Finding new textures means getting pics of the orbiter online and cut pasti g then modifying and then uv mapping which is what I wanted to do but I think we should have a go at jovzins model first?

Thats odd. They should work... did you install the other included mods? There will be another full release coming verry soon... make sure you have the gimball mod in your gamedata folder. It came with the last release. But thanks for letting me know I will check when I get home

I think that I have all of the other mods installed. Thanks for taking a look. I think I will just wait for the full release if it's coming soon.

The HUD on the new cockpit is now actually useable

Love that it's functional, but I have a request.

Can we keep the monitors closer?

Eliminate the spaces between them like it was... for easier viewing

Yes Im working on modeling all the stuff instead of a simple texture. Its going to take a while though.
