Stock Ion Engine Problem

First of all i dont even know if im posting in the right area so forgive me if im not but im currently in the process of trying to recreate Max from the flight of the navigator aka This ship .

An ive kinda got it down but my problem is the power of the ion engine isnt strong enough and when i change the cfg file it becomes to powerful an tears itself apart so im hoping that someone can help me figure it out so its just right or maybe suggest a mod that might have the engine im looking for because i dont want to leave an exhaust trail or id just use a rocket engine.

Try with LCARS. In my knowledge, is the only kind of propulsion similar at the Navigator...

Just needs that reflection plugin stuff added and you've got yourself a winner. I loved that movie as a kid.
