Custom Parts Will Not Render In Editor

Just a stab in the dark: I had a similar problem, and it turned out to be that I had moved the part too far down without moving the root parts tools object in Unity and it was rendering underground. The part tools object appears to be the center point of the model, and everything else is moved in relation to it.

Check that the origin of your part is at the center of your model, and not offset by a distance so large, it causes the visible mesh itself to be pushed outside the visible bounds of the VAB/SPH.
