Take on Mars BETA

I checked the forum and found only two entries about Bohemia Interactive's "Take on Mars". One discussion ended in 2013, and the other is a blog entry that discussed the game. So I decided to start a new thread about Take On Mars, considering that it's in Beta state now. The most recent update was made just several hours ago, and added power requirements for devices and power sources, in the form of solar panels and an RTG. The new electrical cables are quite nice.

The following screenshots are from "Take On Mars" running a scenario called "The Only One", a scenario not unlike Mark Watney's predicament in the novel and film "The Martian"

(the following text comes from the Scenario Description)

Due to a failure during its final descent, the Expedition One Mars Lander was destroyed on impact leaving no survivors.

As far as NASA knows...

You have survived the crash. What will you do?

Remember: Scavenge the crash site! You no longer start with anything in your inventory, so you have to find everything to survive at the crash site!

Been playing this recently and it's a very "Mark Watney" ish experience Which is cool because I've read the book and recently watch the movie too. I bet Watney would have given up a finger to have had a 3D printer in the hab.

You can find it in the Steam Workshop. Actually I've somewhat "finished" with the scenario, and even with the new power update, the fact that certain things are still illogical (i.e. you don't need ANY power source to power the 3D printer...like, what? Also, harvesting Hydrogen to make Methane seems a useless enterprise because the rovers currently work without fuel!), and there's no definite "escape plan" (i.e. go to Schiapparelli Crater etc.).

Still quite a beautiful game though, graphics-wise.

Yes, but it lacks an autosave ... looking on redoing 3h from today ... luckily I did not play a base building scenario, but driving the rover(s) to the interesting science points all over again in "career mode" ...
