Can you build a Soyuz with stock parts?

Is it possible to build a ship similar to a Russian Soyuz (spaceship) with stock parts?

The problem is, the capsule would be in the middle. One side of the capsule is the heat shield (followed by a service compartment with engines and fuel tanks). The other side of the capsule must have a docking port attached and a parachute at the same time. How do you do this?

I saw quite a number of screenshots with realistically looking Soyuz replicas apparently from stock parts, but I cannot see if they have parachutes, and where these parachutes are hidden.

Any ideas?

Answer to main question YES

Chutes are probably clipped inside the command pod, using the new alignment features.

I've come to the conclusion that (using stock parts) you can either A) build something that looks like a Soyuz, build something that functions like a Soyuz or C) build something that works well and efficiently in stock aerodynamics.

I go for C. Please let me know if I'm wrong!

Yeah, It's easy.

Dock a hitchhiker to the front of a 2.5m command pod.

Launch it inside a fairing, just like the real thing.

Why not use radial parachutes on the command pod? Put a fuel tank and engine below it and an orbiter module of your choice (this is the trickiest part for me to find something spherical) above it by using decouplers or docking ports. It's my favorite design for crew rotations whenever I'm too lazy to fly the good old shuttle.

So I think it's not a big deal to build a functional Soyuz.

If you're a hard core Soyuz fan consider attaching sepratrons on the pod and fire them up just before hitting the ground. This is completely useless but looks nice

You could stick two Cupola modules back to back if you really want something that looks spherical.

I actually did this for a while. But yeah like 4t was a little too much. I mostly use tanks with flat adapters on both sides. It looks soso. With lamps on the side it looks at least like it had windows. I really wish squad would introduce some spherical tanks though, not only for this reason.

On the other hand I kind of like the kerbalized look. So whatever :-D
