Neat intro to rocket science

Came across this rather fun Woody Woodpecker film about how to get a rocket to the Moon and back. It's a couple of minutes into this film clip. There's a couple of oddities with the terminology and thinking but I suppose it was supposed to serve a dumbed down purpose in the movie...

Ah, Destination Moon, I'd thought nobody remembered that. Although I am told that NASA apparently updated and continued to use the clip for public education. A shame that the movie itself lost out to a movie like Rocketship X-M, but that's the movie for you. I initially heard of Destination Moon mostly through a some writing in one of Robert Heinlien's book of collected works.

Having watched this clip I checked and found the full movie on youtube. It's actually not bad in terms of sticking to something pretty realistic i.e. no silly space ships or bug-eyed monsters.

I also liked that it was really obvious the thing was way overweight at launch and that led to the ending when that became a major issue.
