I don't use Steam for KSP, I download it from the store. Is there any way to download another copy of 1.0.5? I just downloaded a bunch of mods for it, but don't want to mess up my current 1.0.5. Thanks DoctorDavinci for said mods!

How do I move .craft files from game to game of KSP? Same with from save to save? Can I be lazy and just copy-and-paste?

If I want to back up my KSP, can I just copy the whole game folder so I have 2?

When I download a mod(s), I make a separate save, and while I have that mod installed, I only use that save. Can I still have that save without the mods, just not play it, or do I need to delete it? I've been playing since .21, and still don't know these answers... I feel uninformed.

This will hopefully serve as info for new players, not just me, so PLEASE explain very clearly and make sure everyone can understand your grammar. Pretend you are Redditing on explainlikeimfive.

1. I use steam but maybe it's similar. With steam you can just take the KSP folder and move it somewhere else so that steam installs a new one.

2. Sure

3. Sure

4. I think so but you can just backup the save and try

  1. <your KSP folder>\saves\<your save>\Ships\SPH or VAB, and then just copy the craft files from there to wherever you want (you can also copy subassemblies by going inside Subassemblies instead of Ships
  2. Yes
  3. Yes, you can have as many saves as you want inside your "saves" folder, just make sure they have different names or funny things may happen. Also, if you do not intend to use mods on your "old" save, try no to open it while having mods: as you remove them, your save might not work anymore (without the mods); but as long as you don't touch it it's fine
  4. Was there a 4th question ?
