I believe we should have the ability to choose what kind of fuel in every tank. You could choose the tank setups like Liquid fuel and Oxidiser, Liquid Fuel, or even Monoprop! This would put my mind at ease knowing I don't have to have fuel tanks half empty whenever I choose to have nuclear engines on my craft.

Monoprop should keep its own tanks (heavier because pressurised) but I agree being able to switch between LFOx/LF/Ox in other tanks would be a good thing.

Also, the mod @IvanSanchez linked is outdated, you might want to try Interstellar Fuel Switch which does the same (plus a few other things) and is updated for 1.1.2:
