A representation of the nearest stars to Sol

dDtbJqd.png           S98ykii.png

I've been toying with this idea for a few months and finally decided to run with it due to an excess of free time and the great tutorials by The White Guardian(and partially that I've run short of ideas and if I make the planets I can tell what's missing). I will be trying to give these planets a stock-alike aesthetic while giving each some unique characteristic to explore. This mod may never be finished but if it is I will be coupling it with kerbinside to add more things to explore in these systems as well as several other modlets to enhance the experience. Each star will be done before the next is started beginning with alpha Minauri. I've already created a number of necessary assets.

Systems(Measurements in KM)

Spoiler

Note:under remodeling

Minauri system

Spoiler

(BP): 120'500'000 above lagrange, SOI to 120'000'000

[Proxima]: .2 sols, pink, incredibly hot, 2'000'000 above (BP), No SOI
[Beta]: .8 sols, orange, 2'000'000 above (BP), No SOI
Biko: 7'510'000 up, .47G, dark lowlands and yellowish highlands
Nova: (GP2)Bright blue uranian giant, 5G, sideways rotation(none), very thin ring, 2 tiny shepard moons, 16-12'500'000 up
     Aed: (Very smooth?)
     Donn: (Not very smooth?)
Colina: 34'300'000 up, brown-white-grey, .2G

(Alpha Minauri): 120'500'000 above lagrange, SOI to 120'000'000

[Alpha]: 1 sol, yellow
Voyin: 12 degree inclination, Moho type, 7'510'000 up, tidally locked, grey and brown, .6G
Eradi: Cracked surface, .9G, thick but short atmosphere, 11'068'000 up, rusty red, seas and atmosphere in cracks
Clet: tiny moon, 7 degree inclination, .01G, elongated, slightly to the side, 1'510 up, potato
Gamba: Jovian giant, 12G, brown-orange, no rings, 25'430'000 up
Additium: mid planet, .2G, Orange-Brown, big minas type crator, 30'000 up
Froot: Biggest planet, 1.15G, Green with lakes, 45'000 up
Sid: Smallest Moon, .045G, light blue, peppered with craters, 75'000 up,
Spek: Small comet moving between orbits of 60'000'000 and 4'500'000 up, water and ice composite, Black-white, rounded, miniscule gravity

Von Kerman system

Spoiler

[Von Kerman's star] Jool sized red dwarf.
Braun: .18G, dark greyish, no atmosphere, pockmarked, Tidally locked and one side is smoothed by blasts, exposing a dark black iron core, 24'000 up

Tao: Titanic planet, golden atmosphere and seas, brown surface, 47'000 up, .8G

Kerman 17

Spoiler

Rouge planet. Tylo type but with topography which suggests islands and seas earlier in life, Thin atmosphere(thinner than duna), gravity of 8.6m/s, sandstone and limestone colours along the equator with icecaps reaching 3/4 of the way down. Freezing temperature.

Shüm

Spoiler

Small white dwarf star the size of Kerbin but with half the gravity of Kerbol. All planets have been wiped away and so this system is devoid of planets.

Kirius-Trilla system

Spoiler

[Kirius]: 2 sols, white-blue

Aketi: Hot Jool 13'000'000 up(may vary, will have to sync orbit with Trilla), 20G, Orange-Red
Ler: slightly green Waterworld, .55G, Laythian atmosphere, 60'000 up.

[Trilla]: .25 sols, Blue, 27'000'000-96'000'000 above Kirius
Eugain: Spins in reverse, .6G, Purple, No atmosphere, near flat equator
Bein: Thick atmosphere, 1.6G, Planet 1/2 Kerbin size, atmosphere reaches to the Height of Eve's from the centre, Upper layer for 1/10 the way and middle thickness for 3/10, thick soup for final 6/10, Custom scatter shaped like diamonds, Hydrogen-Helium atmosphere
Moon: Under the Moon's Roche limit, various Greys, Red hot cracks line the planets inner surface, tidally locked to Bein, .11G, elongated(Possibly already falling apart if I can get it to do that)
Wiggles:
Shondara: 9G, Pink with a thick ring, all moons slightly inclined
     Moon 1:
Puba: Also pink, .8G, Laythe like atmosphere, pink too, Grey highlands
     Moon 3:
     Moon 4:
Aoleka: 7 degree incline, .15G, 6 hour day, white-blue

Note1:Why do I get the feeling Clet is already a name...

So I've been checking if these systems are stable while getting the specifics down. Surprisingly all are stable bar BP because as it turns out circumbinary orbits are difficult when they're close together. I essentially put the bodies into their orbit and let them jostle about for a few thousand years.

WyKKuTM.png

Trilla's orbit around Kirius circularized and aketi got moved outwards.

NVKRi4u.png

Von kerman remained stable but it's mass isn't high enough to be a fully fledged star, but it's very hot and big and I think it's even better this way.

kuF3yGh.png

Alpha got shifted around a little bit and spek got pushed into a more inclined orbit.

All of the gas planets are able to hold their moons. So BP may change significantly or I can ignore the physics and hope nobody calls me out for it.

Well we already have a star porn mod, why not a more accuracy realistic mod for a change.

Not too wacky. Just something worth visiting

As a side note, if I can overcome my laziness, I might look into making an interstellar navigation mod, including relativistic effects and a version of persistent thrust

Please, I'm begging you, don't use the name "Kirius"!

That name is waaay overused, seriously.

Why not something like "Sirkius" or "Siriuk" or even "Kiriuk" (Those are kinda dumb names, so think of others.)

Anyways, I'm excited for this mod, since I like planet packs over parts packs. :D

I have never heard of Kirius, who is using it?

"Kerbol", on the other hand, does not exist

I remember @_Augustus_ had a star pack for old Kopernicus with a Sirius analogue named Kirius.

(Btw I visited the forums long before I became a member, so that's how I know about the pack.)

@Spartwo Will there be an analogue to that nearby brown dwarf with water vapor clouds? I forget it's exact real name, but I know it is part of the WISE catalogue, is a Y-class dwarf, and is only ~6 light years away.
