New to the game, new to the forums.

Woo, another intro thing.

Well to start off, I'm pretty much new to KSP, with just over 200 hours now, but I've been learning quickly and while I haven't done any interplanetary transferring yet, I think I'll get the hang of it soon without sending kerbal's into the void.

I've been browsing here on the forums anonymously to peak at what others were doing, what people were making and of course, browsing mods to enhance the game.  Figured since I've been putting so much time into the game now that I'd get more involved with the community.

Anyways, I'll cut it off here. For the most part I work on my career save or I'm on a DMP server. I'll be sure to stick around and not kill too many kerbal's.

And just between you and me, I've got over 1000 hours in this game, but I still haven't designed and flown my own interplanetary mission.

Welcome aboard!

I'm kind of near you. I sent a probe to Ike, because I screwed up the Duna transfer, and then my save file corrupted. Oh well! :)

Haha same here, couple hundred hours but only kind or got to Duna, I keep seeing new mods which I feel like I should start a new save with, anyways, welcome Talos!

I was in your shoes back in January 2016. In the process of learning this:

  • I stranded Jeb on Duna,
  • stranded seven kerbals in an eccentric Eve orbit
  • learned the hard way that 'efficient' doesn't mean, 'stop on a dime' in space
  • killed Valentina another 20+ times learning how to do a proper gravity turn with a 100+ part vessel

In the process of making these mistakes:

  • I landed an intact base on Duna
  • ...that was made from two docked rockets
  • I made a rover that could safely do 90 km/h on Duna's surface
  • I sent landed and orbital bases on Minmus and the Mun, sometimes crewed, sometimes not
  • I did get that 100+ part ship to the Mun and back, rescuing a kerbal and bringing home lots of science

You will make these mistakes and more, and it'll still be a blast... I'll get my coat...

but seriously Part of the charm is being allowed to make these mistakes and reload. Also, I think a lot of the folks here learned from early players' mistakes too, like the practically immortal Scott Manley. Today's scientists are great because they stand on the shoulders of giants, and the same can be said for KSP players.

(though your choice of logo is interesting... usually an upside-down flag is a distress signal, though this is Kerbal Space Program so it kind-of applies...)

I've been working on a probe for Duna to map out potential landing zones. Still need to figure out my transfer though.

I've made a few landings on the Mun, and actually, the most that happened on my first landing was a broken landing strut; I was still able to get the lander back into orbit around the Mun and back home again so I was a little proud that my first mission landing on the Mun didn't end in a spectacular pile of rubble.

As for the logo, it wasn't made by me, but by someone who kerbalized a bunch of space agencies. There's also a Canadian flag with that same upside down leaf with the rocket replacing the stem.
