This is the place to upload and discuss your results for the Kerbal Dakar 2017.

Please keep this thread clean from smalltalk since this is the place for me to do the judging thingy.

 

Some pointers,

- Put up a screenshot showing your vehicle.

- Use the spoiler function to show us your 14 or more screenshots.

- give some information about your propulsion, mods used etc.

So I forgot to change target to surface setting, showing me the distance and not the speed that should say 0.0 m/s. But you can clearly see the brakes are on.

Yay finaly up.  for all ya new to this challenge this is going to be very hard an very fun so be prepared don't just slap a cockpit and some wheels together and remember brakes you really need them on stage 2 and 3

Forgot to take the first picture but I assume I started at 0

The buggy is entirely powered by fuel cells 

Total time was: 2:22:48 (not the fastest but I think it is ok)

Rolled over on stage 6 and lost my lights but sustained no other damage surprisingly

Other snags include , Screen shot 9 and 10 are the same shot , and you can't see the flag at all in screenshot 7

Whoops sorry about that, imgur put them in wrong and I tried rearranging them

@SpannerMonkey(smce) I think 9 and 10 are the same shot at different times and in 7 the flag is targeted I think

Just kidding I decided my car will only carry as much fuel as needed for a single stage, and deployed identical service trucks at every checkpoint Actual entry upcoming... sometime soonish?

Hey all, let me be among  the first to post a set of results  with a final time of  1hour 1 minute 7seconds

Parts not making it to the finish, sump guards destroyed stages 2/4/5/7,  boost flaps and linked aero destroyed on stage 6,  1x juno jet engine and 1 x 0.62 fuel tank destroyed stage 7

Ps on a trial run using the races mod and a pre marked route i completed the event in  48min:51sec:06 tenths  which i think is about as fast as anyone could do it

I don't mind mods or tweaking, this is a driving challenge.

Alright, here we go.

The Thingamaflop weighs in at just over ten tonnes, with fifty eight parts. It averages a little over 70^m/_s during normal operation, but downhills bring it up to as much as 110.

Meaning that 7.47 - 1.00= 6 minutes 47 Seconds

Stage one complete Start time 3:00 minutes, End time 18:18 minutes. Total time Stage 1: 15 minutes 18 seconds. Wheel power only, Vehicle weight is 8.7 tons. I plan to finish every stage with this vehicle. no swaps or new vehicles waiting for Jeb and Bill at the end of each stage. 

I forgot to switch the velocity indicator to surface. That is 0 m/s surface. 

Here I am at the beginning of stage 2. Flag is 40 m underground?

Really wanted to do this so I threw a vehicle together and I guess it made it to the Stage 2/Finish marker for today. I had to use the winch. :-/ Broke a lot of stuff. And oh, my passenger died. Terrible Stage 1 time but it was fun anyway and wanted to post since I at least completed my goal for the day. :-)

Screenshots weren't well done...you'll have to trust me that the MET is as good as it'll get for a Stage 1 time. Fun challenge!

Vehicle: It's a mess of Structural Tubing, Structural Panels, RollKage Kerchelin Jumbos (wanted to do the sport turbos but didn't finish the build), Kerbal Attachment, Jet Engines, Batteries, and some hopefully life saving airbags.

Oh, my worst accident was caused by a seam. Is it likely a mod caused that? Just curious.
