Q: What features can we expect?

A: Star Theory Games have added several brand-new features to Kerbal Space Program 2. A plethora of exciting new features will captivate veteran and returning players, as well as usher in a whole new generation of Kerbonauts to this ingenious and comedic world that has entertained millions.

Key Features:

●  Improved On-boarding: Kerbal Space Program 2 will create a whole new generation of spaceflight experts who will find themselves accidentally learning rocket science. New animated tutorials, improved UI, and fully revamped assembly and flight interfaces allow both experienced and novice players to quickly put their creativity to the test without sacrificing any of the challenge from the original game.

●  Next-Generation Technology: In Kerbal Space Program 2, the astoundingly inventive creations that KSP is known for will be taken to a whole new level. Players will be delighted and challenged by next-generation engines, parts, fuel, and much more. This new tech will enable new feats of space exploration within and beyond the original Kerbolar System.

● Colonies: Players can now build colonies in Kerbal Space Program 2. These colonies not only pose their own physics challenges to build, but also require players gather resources to build structures, space stations, habitations, and generate unique fuel types. Eventually, these colonies become advanced enough for vehicle construction, propelling deep space and beyond.

●  Interstellar Travel: Next-gen tech, colonies, and resource collection work together to enable a new kind of exploration: interstellar travel. In Kerbal Space Program 2, these interstellar technologies pave the way to a host of new celestial bodies, each comprising new challenges and harboring new secret treasures.

●  Multiplayer/Modding: An all-new architecture underlies Kerbal Space Program 2, enabling increased moddability and the long-awaited arrival of multiplayer. We look forward to revealing more about the ways you'll share your Kerbal journey with friends at a later time.

Q: What can we expect from the expanded universe in Kerbal Space Program 2?

A: Kerbal Space Program 2 allows players to explore beyond the Kerbolar system for the first time into new and uncharted territories. Interstellar technologies pave the way to a host of new celestial bodies, each comprising new challenges and harboring new secrets. Among them: Ovin, a ringed super-Earth with relentless gravity; Rask and Rusk, a binary pair locked in a dance of death; and many more to reward exploration.

Q: What type of physics can players expect? Advanced, realistic, etc?

Could be interesting. If they do Early Access for a reasonable price, I might sign up. Hopefully they can pull it off, problems with KSP1 are well documented, so it might be possible to avoid them if they're accounted for early enough. I kind of hoped KSP would launch an entire genre, and it does look like it's happening.

Wow, I was not at all expecting KSP 2. IMO for a sequel to be worth it, it needs significantly reworked planet systems, graphics, and also the base-building + Interstellar travel(?) like what was shown in the non-gameplay trailer.

Oh my god.... This is amazing. And I wonder how modders would work with the new systems. Especially the solar system/advanced tech modders. And I really can't wait to see everything about how colonies will work. With a stock system for this, I imagine the mods we have will be able to branch off and expand in really cool ways.

EDIT 1:42 Did I see a STOCK ORION DRIVE?

EDIT 2: Will there be improvements to realism/physics? And UI on flying missions?

EDIT 3: Will there be any mystery/storyline/quest of any sort you can choose to do? Like finding ancient ruins and finding a story with them? And will the way you do science get an overhaul?

My guess would be a hard "No".

Lets hope it will keep the gameplay at least as scientific as it is without dumbing it down for a wider audience...

Also i hope it will be at least as moddable as the current game. Since its a new developer we cant be sure they understand the critical role mods had in KSPs history...

Edit: I watched the long dev trailer, they seem to have the right attitude. The hypetrain is accelerating :D

Is it going to be built from the ground up with full multithreading?

While I realise the cinematic was exactly that, I'd love to be able to build a colony that looked like those, not going to happen with the current engine.

First: Yay. Look great and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I have no doubt it will be as mod friendly as KSP 1

Now the really important question: Which Unity version does this runs on ? :D

i just watched the announcement and it felt unreal, i never expected this to be happening but i am incredibly happy that it is.

Not gonna lie here... It was so emotional, brought a tear to my eyes. What's wrong with me. XD

But on a serious note. Hope it goes well. And well as in Minecraft/KSP 1, and all those other great successful games without loot boxes. ;)

While I'm happy to defend Squad/Take Two on unrealistic expectations from the community (eg upgrades for eternity for free), a trailer like this sets a very clear marker for expectations. Congratulations on the game, and let's make sure it lives up to the trailer!

This gives me confidence. My hopes for the game:

  • That things are reminiscent of the current game, while being a step up and different. If they re-make the Kerbol System, the planets sorta have the same maps, but more epic.
  • That Minmus and Kerbin especially still look like themselves
  • That you see something of  the old parts,  and old locations in the new game
  • Shout outs to current mods and modded locations.
  • If story,  one that you shape, and the kerbals are still fairly blank slate characters for us to project on
  • that it is in fact, a sequel, not a remake, and that the two stand on their own.
  • That it doesn't result in  people  no longer playing the first
  • Inclusion of the original music from the start screen.
  • better physics - less building to avoid bad glitches
  • Wheels which actually work
  • That the fantastic editor, orbit, and flight interfaces have their best bits carried over
  • Realistically expanding engine plumes
  • Biomes renamed to something that makes sense, if  still an in game concept.
  • Water Physics
  • If there is a career, it's focus is on continuous action and building, and not talking points up to unlock stuff
  • actual science activities, not just click to collect
  • That new parts are done with imagination, not just real life copies
  • Complex landscapes
  • More named female characters- ballance it like a modern game
  • Still open to modding, save and file tinkering?
  • And lastly,
  • That the people making it have seen the online community, and  tap into the vast imagination seen here.

that the city like things in the trailer weren't just trailer stuff

That it's not too soon...

That's weird, they merged. Whoops
