So, AVC is still playing mind games with me...

I downloaded 2023/10.21.2, deleted the old directories and did a fresh reinstall. What you see on the left is the game startup immediately following the reinstall.

I do still have the log file for this particular game start up if you need it, but this one seems more like a metadata issue to me. I'll still get you the log if it's helpful.

No, AVC is right. The ÜberPaket is meant to people that don't want to worry about updating the Companions individually - it's an All Batteries included solution (including the ones you don't need).

The individual packages are developed in parallel, and now and then I update the ÜberPaket with the latest versions as I convinced the new versions will not cause regressions.

If you want to control the version of the Add'Ons individually using AVC, so it's better for you to download only the Companions you really want to use instead the whole ÜberPaket.

There's a tool on TweakScale that will inspect your GameData looking for Add'Ons that are supported by a Companion. The tool will warn you:

  • When you have installed an Add'On that can't be used without the respective Companion (as Firespitter).
    • TweakScale will pesky you until you install it.
  • When you have installed an Add'On that have a Companion, but the installation is optional.
    • TweakScale will advise you about them every time the ModuleManager rebuilts the ConfigCache.

So, in the end, it's all about how do you want to manage your rig: 

  • If you use CKAN, or don't want to bore with individual dependencies, use the ÜberPaket
  • If you want to cherry pick the Companions, installing only what you need and managing them by hand, them AVC will warn you about a new version of that respective Companion.

In your screenshot, you will note that AVC is telling you about a new version for TweakScale Companion for Firespitter, not the ÜberPaket.

At this moment, the latest Companion for Firespitter is the 1.3.0.1:

The TSCo_FS currently on the UberPaket is still 1.3.0.0

Using spaces on pathnames is a less than ideal habit that it's plaguing KSP since years ago. This lead to problems on patching, as well on the prefab. This is cumbersome because sometimes a part can be created at runtime, and then whatever you put on the pathname will not exist anyway - and then we get on an weird situation in which TS can't tell if a part exists only on the prefab or also in the GameData.

Ideally fixing the pathnames would be the best solution, but this will break anything else that would rely on these pathnames. It's a catch-22 situation, I fix this problem on A+, some people will get their games screwed (users of UbioWeld in special).

So, until I find a proper solution that would not screw up current users, I concluded that living with this warning is the lesser of evils at this time.

Hello,

I got upset that there are no tweakscale cfg for Tantares and so I decide to make it myself, but since I am lazy I decided to write a script that does it automatically for every part. But since I am even more lazy I used ChatGPT for most of the work, I say this just to give credit.

Here are the cfg files for Tantares and TantaresLV:

Does it work? Yes, ALL the parts scale, even the ones that shouldn't (e.g. fairings), if some parts are bugged, I am sorry, I wanted Tweakscale for Tantares mostly for aesthetics not full functionality. If some parts are unbalanced just don't scale them.

Did I check all the parts? No, I just want to make my pretty soviet asteroid base.

Does the Kerbal amount in the pods scale , as in a bigger pod will have more space for Kerbals? No

Do I care about that? Nope -_-

Make TweakScale CFG Automatically  script:

You need Python 3 installed to use it. Just put it into the mod folder and run it, the script will look inside the "./parts" directory and automatically make a new .cfg file that should have the basic few things needed to make ALL the parts scale. It will cram all the parts into a single file with no order, but it works (I tested it only with Tantares).

It's honestly weird that I haven't found anything similar already, do people really make these cfg by hand? Am I too much of the opposite of a perfectionist?

Again, anyone is free to use/redistribute/edit/improve/worsen/print/eat/buy or sell it. I don't care.

Technical details of the logic:

It makes all parts that are "surface attached" scaling as "free_square" unless it's in the "FuelTank" category in which case it will make the scaling "free".

If the part is instead a normal part it will make it scale as "stack" (no exceptions, if your part is weird, teak it manually) and will automatically decide what is the default scale needed.

It will also add the extra bits that TweakScale likes ONLY if the part is a decoupler (the category=="Coupling") or and engine (category=="Propulsion"). I couldn't be bothered to study TweakScale in more depth.

Opposite of perfectionist? More likely an unexperienced and/or too much optimistic instead. :)

People borks. Everywhere. Some do a typo on a part config (even Squad used to do it sometimes), and things start to get (yet more) screwed when scaled - and, so, TweakScale takes the blame.

I need to support everything right, not only 80% of the most used parts (while letting the users get screwed with the other 20%). I need to check the bulkhead profile, I need to check the attachment nodes, I need to check for custom PartModules (and I need to check if the there's anything missing on currently supported ones, as scaling some uninitialised attributes can lead to CTDs - and, again, TweakScale takes the blame).

And so it goes… 

So everything I publish is double checked - not only the patches, but the parts I'm patching too.

Remember GIGO: Garbage In, Garbage Out.

I downgraded tweakscale companion and that fixed it, so Im not quite sure. However Im just going to keep it downgraded until its fixed :)

Makes no sense. Really. Please send me the KSP.log - there's something else there, and I want to see what's happening.

What do I look for in the logs? The problem is that the procedural fairings don't open, and the procedural fairing bases part ui is also broken. (Im using RO btw if that makes a difference)

I don't know. It's the reason I want to see the logs, so I can try to reproduce your instalment on my rig and see what's happening. :)

That's exactly where we differ! I wanted to have Tantares scale, even if it meant that it was somewhat broken: more freedom for the user as the person using the config (which in this case would have ben only me, as at first I didn't care about releasing this) has to then decide in-game if he thinks it's right to use the "busted" part or not, but at least he has the option to decide to scale it or not!

Speaking of which, did you try/look at my config/script? Are there any glaringly obvious issues with them?

We have different roles. You are not going to support users of your patches.
