0.17 Problems with patch

So when i go do patch it gets half way through then.

Or it will say ;applying patch' which goes for more then for 1 hour and does nothing but say that message.

And also says some times.

Is this because i downloaded the new patch from the store.

Been trying to update for a few hours.

i havent got the old patch any more from when i tryed downloading KSP.

And yes i know the server are overloaded.

I was getting download speeds of 2MB/s.

And then the server crashed. Despite the clearly less traffic.

The old patcher was broken, constantly redownloading itself. I had a buch of old files in the patcher so I downloaded the new patcher and deleted the old one then the new patcher told me I had to download the whole game, which I did.

So I expect this is why the bandwidth is choked, everyone is having to DL the whole game.

Whether this is what Squad intended or not I cant say but this is what is happening.

I could not successfully apply the patch until I tried it on a clean copy of 0.16. I was able to successfully apply the patch after two failed tries. It turned out it did not like edited cfg files. Unfortunately, it downloaded the patch three times before it finally worked, so the bandwidth didn't end up being saved. Apparently, it didn't save the temporary files anywhere before it checked the files already present, and then had to start all over.

If you've ever installed any mods or edited any cfg files, you'll want to be unzipping a clean version of 0.16 before trying to patch.

The servers are still pretty bogged down, so expect some trouble and be prepared to try again a lot.
