Rocket, Y U no go to space?

It seems that in .17 rockets are now much harder to get into orbit. Is this just me or am I right?

The fuel bug that existed in 0.16 has been removed, so it's possible that if you weren't using full throttle before you were getting free gas.

i have had to upsize my rocket to a rediculous size now, but the only reason i cant get it into space is because of the decouplers not doing the justice

I think the bug caused under-consumption in some cross flow situations as well.

I think it's just that, like the 0.16 update, some parts have been rebalanced so we have to build new ships.

or just add fuel lines to make sure all the fuel is properly connected.

the main reason MY rockets wont go into space is bcuz of the large decoupler breaking

I've found it a bit more difficult to get into space, but I think it was because I was exploiting the fuel bug without knowing it was there.

I have, however, shifted fire and learned how to make things work.

My first interplanetary ship test design has turned out to be a huge success, and hopefully I'll be making some long-distance missions soon.

The problem with long-distance interplanetary missions is that even the highest warp as of 0.17 is very, very slow. I made the mistake of making a Laythe lander because I was curious as to its composition because of its far orbit yet presence of liquid SOMETHING.

I have found that my rockets are slightly less efficient, <5% difference. I had the fuel bug fix. It is easier to get to other planets with the nuclear engine. Evens itself out I suppose.

I'm almost at duna ... the nuke engine helps ALOT, really once in space you can get all the way out of the solar system on 2 fuel tanks!!! so for me its easy... but it took around 10 test rockets to get the perfect one for orbiting then landing then taking off extra. I'm going to the green one in the same mission! I think just for an orbit though, gas is not very stable to land on... but im got to get one of my kerbals to fly into that thing!!!! > its going to be bill!

My old standard ascent booster requires about twice as much fuel now to lift a bit less than the original payload, and I was running the fuel bug fix. The Isp for the engines I'm using hasn't changed to my knowledge. What's going on here?

They upped the thrust rating on the mainsail engines, so consumption will go up. I haven't noticed any marked difference (other than the fuel bug being gone).

Personally I never use Mainsail, unless I just don't care at all.

Mostly LV-T30 and 45. Going easy on 45 to save on excess mass.

.17 is the first time I've really tried to play with stock parts since .13

For breaking decoupler issue I suggest (especially if you use 1m engines in upper stages) use small decoupler + struts for creating basket type frame (for light stage 4-6 straight ones are enough).

Yeah, I ALWAYS strut interstage. It looks nicer and prevents Rapid Unplanned Disassembly.

The main difference I noticed was all my large ships were unstable because flaps no longer work as well

it seems that my rockets need twice as much fuel to get into space as they did before. I always seem to go past my apoapsis before getting into orbit.

Its same if not easier, Kerbin orbit is lowered to ~60km if in not mistaken..

Probably due to fuel bug abuse you made it into orbit..

I may have used the fuel bug without knowing, but I don't openly abuse it. I'll post a picture on my next failed flight
