Are we in a holding pattern?

This may be just me, but it seems activity has lessened in the forum.  To be fair, I mostly hover around the Challenges, and I have noticed they are coming less frequently than they used to. More importantly, I see challenges being made, but few actual entries.  I used to put up challenges regularly, and there was a core of gamers who jumped on them. Likewise, those same players, often presented challenges as well and I always enjoyed participating.  There is just something odd about having a challenge up for nearly half a day, and not one response.

I wonder if we are in a holding pattern in which folks are drifting away as the release of KSP2 draws closer, or (or perhaps in addition) the past few years have made real life demonstrably harder and other priorities have taken over.   Or is it just over time folks come and go, and the members I saw regularly have drifted away, to be replaced by new ones?  I can think of several folks that seem to have drifted away. I have never known them other than avatars, but I hope they are all doing okay.

I haven't been on the forums long, but I have noticed somewhat of a downtick in activity since I joined in April of this year.

I suspect that the growth parts of previous cycles of turnover were partly driven by marketing of new releases of KSP1, with new people hearing about it, buying it, and joining the forum. For a while now, all the new development and marketing has been for a sequel that you can't buy, so that pipeline is blocked. I expect an uptick of activity when KSP2 goes into early access in February.

Besides being sick as a dog right now, I just have this issue right now where I hop on KSP, spend an hour building a rocket, it flips on the first launch & then i’m burned out and done for the night :sticktongue:

Kopernicus at least, as a mod project, is very much so.

I'm holding things together and working on one final release, but I am very much downgrading my efforts there in anticipation of all the KSP2 work I will likely have to recreate.

I guess KSP 1 will have much longer life, than we all expect. Why? Cause KSP 2 at release simply can't be as feature rich as a heavily modded KSP1 install with all the possibilities, that e.g.  Kopericus, the Near/FarFuture-Suite, and all the other fabulous mods bring to the table

Aaaand: As far as I saw Ksp2: The graphics of a heavily modded ksp1 install is mostly as good as (in some parts even better) what Ksp2 will look at release. At least what I saw of KSP2 yet.

For me: no need to switch to ksp2 before end of the early access phase. Maybe even later, if even at all. There is so much to do in KSP1, that I simply do not need the switch right at the start. For that, i'd be happy if the mods would still get some bugfix (not feature incrementing) support.

Who is true, now I think most of us is looking for more information about KSP 2 as in how much is included, I'm pretty sure metallic hydrogen is in as its just another fuel source.
Orion pulse nuclear is more questionable, its not really interstellar unless you scale it to idiotic levels. As I remember the interstellar orion would be 20 km in diameter so yes more like a death star than any other spaceship. pulse charges would be around one gigaton yield weighting 4000 ton or the weight of an orion batteship.
The smaller orion versions would be very nice for moving heavy stuff inside an solar system but ISP is not that fantastic.

My issue with KSP 1 mods is that if you add to many mods the game get weird. Problem in KSP is that the game just tend to crash.

To me currently no issue... stable for many hours, wihout need to restart. Okay, after 3-4 hours i restart the game to get rid of memory leaks.... but it rarely crashes. And to me the game doesn't get weird. Except from visual mods, and support mods (like trajectories or KER) only the big Nertea-suite, planetside, blueshift and some Kopernicus stuff.... it nicely fits to each other pretty stable, thanks to ksp community fixes.

Don't know which Features Ksp2 might bring, that I would reaaaaally need in top of my modded features.

Yep. Also, when KSP takes at least 8 minutes to load and FSX takes like 15 seconds, I might want to play the latter if I'm just a little bored and need something to do. Also, you kind of have to be in the right mood to play KSP, if I'm not feeling creative or whatever or don't have the energy to spend time engineering, building, and testing a craft, I won't really be into it. KSP is still great though and I love it, obviously. I'm not really looking forward to KSP2 because I know none of my computers at the moment will even come close to meeting its minimum requirements, and I have barely scratched the surface of what is possible in KSP1 (I have barely gone to other planets and moons. basically)

Packing and moving stuff also didn't leave me much time to do any playing for a while.

Yesterday I tried to open KSP and it crashes about halfway through, I think its at the same spot. I have to do some troubleshooting, I don't exactly remember what I tried to install before I took a long KSP break, but I'm pretty sure it's just a weird mod
